Hey everyone! My name's Iver. Welcome to my channel: RA2 World Series. I host and stream pro Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Yuri's Revenge) games... and give the winners cash :)
My channel features a variety of RA2 gameplay, including professional 1v1 matches, 2v2 games, show-matches, multi-player, free-for-all (FFA), tournaments, and cash prize events. We also feature helpful tutorials, strategies, and walk-throughs, with tips/tricks for new players. I focus mostly on PvP, but I also do PvE occasionally, like 1v7 Brutal AI Enemy challenges, Allied Campaign, and Soviet Campaign games.
"Red Alert 2 Remastered" has yet to officially release, but until it does, I've created a variety of custom maps, tiny maps, survival maps, and mod maps to keep us all entertained! We have a great community of players of all skill levels... download the game today, and come play with us! :)

This is a Red Alert 2 game mode of my own creation. Tiny-map, no ore, build oil for money (max 12 oils). All Allied get all Allied bonuses (minus France), all Soviet get all Soviet bonuses. There is a 10min game timer. No engineers allowed.

Couple of questions: in this video you mention using a mod to differentiate between the Rhino's and Grizzly's, where is that available? Also is there somewhere that has the tech trees available to look at like what was in the old manuals that were packed in with the games? it would help me to follow the build orders as I'm watching if i could remember the tech trees. Keep up all the hard work you're doing, man!

Hey! No it's just a special map that makes the unit colors different. And no I don't have anything like a tech tree like that. It's pretty straightforward though after you watch a couple games you'll figure it out since there's so few units that are used.

Man Root never failed to entertain me specially in 2v2. He's really doing awesome work against top players like Marko, LGND and Quien. Forget about last game, Quien was so angry lol and yea he became an unstoppable force. Very nice games and commentary. I wish there was a patch or something to make this game really competitive, balanced and entertaining. As much as I loved RA2 as a kid, this Rhino + Dog thing is just too silly. I wish there was more room for evert faction. Maybe some units should not exist or changed radically. Or maybe we just need an RA4 made by ex starcraft developers.

Yeah I get a comment on KZbin like this once every 36 hours haha. Red Alert 2 is simple in terms of what units are used, and infinitely complex in terms of how you use them. It's kind of like looking at a game of chess (without playing or understanding the competetive meta) and saying you wish each unit had a different magical spell they could cast. Which to be fair - is a cool idea. But it wouldn't be a different version of Chess, it would be a different game.

@@Iver I like simplicity and I don't like abilities on units. I just feel that the strategic side could be more than forcing dog+tank with a random deso + beating the mechanics and movement ai of units. I yearn for smartness of players to manifest. I saw on some maps (just discovered the channel yesterday) like a dreadnought, a tanya, a navy seal etc. those games were cool. Idk. I guess we have an image of an ideal rts game in our heads and wish it would be in the franchise of our favorite one. Anyway, good job with the channel. It game me some nice, nostalgic relaxation.

Yeah it can be hard to pick it up, but if you watch the POV of top level players you'll start to understand it more. It's not random and it's not AI units. It's click by click micro that wins tank fights at the top level. And that's just what this game is. With the being said - RA2 2v2 is the most bare bones. Yuri's Revenge 1v1 has the most unit diversity. But there is like Red Alert 3 and a few other newer C&C games since RA2 that have a lot more unit diversity. Different games with different styles. Simply change tank AI so it always prioritises shooting other tanks and the dog nonsense vanishes overnight. That'll then make Iraq less mandatory and maybe even open up allied more too

Quick boost of cash! It's only really seen in RA2 (not YR) and at the top level on smaller maps with short games. The money for 3 more tanks and some dogs can win the game.

Xwis no longer runs ladders? How are the new managers running SS requests? Or is it all server side now? Also what is with the lack of "pros" not running multiple War factories and leaving refineries unsold. Has the game been redesigned? P.S. Marko has been caught cheating in the past if I recall correctly. So reformed or am I misremembering? EDIT: 26 minutes in. That looks more familiar.

Xwis got replaced by CnCnet. Everyone uses multi wars and sells refineries when applicable. RA2 2v2s just play a bit faster with shorter games so sometimes don't see it. Never cheated that I know of.

Yeah, 26 min it looks more familiar now. So I still need my old CD product key? I've beaten Marko in 1 v 1 but could never touch Tomi. I half wonder if Tomi is A.I. :D Dude would mercilessly rotate his front line damaged tanks at an insane micro rate.

Is it me or as one game becomes more competitive it stops being fun? For example here almost everything is pretty much robotic, no room for losing 1 second in building, no room for planning strategy or fantasy, you are out either rushing or putting out fires, and you barely get see any other units but only the basics.

Yeah it's definitely a different game. Just like most things though, difficult to appreciate if you aren't familiar with it. At the top level, every tank battle is a work of art. It seems like mindless nonsense to the untrained eye, but every engagement and every decision is a calculation. It's a beautiful thing when your familiar with it, but takes time so definitely not for everyone.
