One big advantage I found out while messing with the last allied YR mission: the Apocalypse tank's default behavior is actually benefitial. If a few get mind controlled from a group but you order them to kill the mind controller, they won't fire on the mind controlled unit unless having no orders or been ordered to attack move.

@@blastCR Unfortunarely I tried an online match once. Online RTS is not for me. The rhino spam in the first ten minutes ends the matches quickly. What's the point of playing if you're going to do that? It's frustrating and boring.

@@Kiwijr2579 cus Rhino is the only good thing the soviet have, apocalypse are very bad, it suck less with the community patch that make her atk while moving but it still has the other 2 flaws: 1- slow speed 2- cost

Glad Red Alert 2 follows the Rock Paper Scissors formula while maintaining simplicity. Tower > Rush > Heavy > Tower Now, if only they also balance the quantity over quality... but eh, it's funnier and more enjoyable this way as most Zerg Rushes can be oneshotted by certain units to balance it out. How about a base race though, see how much of a distance should a Rhino needs to outrun an Apocalypse so it could finish a base before the Apoc does it? With promotions and all of course.

0:22 you done goofed up. Apoc's Speed is set to 4, Rhino's to 6. They don't have the same speed. Else multi-play matches would've been Apoc spam all the time. Sight for Apoc is 6, Rhino's is 8. Weapon Range is set to 5.75 for both, Apoc's AA MammothTusk is Range 8. EDIT: RA2 also has Acceleration mechanic Vehicles can use. If used, two units may have the same nominal speed but one may end up 'slower' than the other. Neither Apocalypse nor Rhino use the Acceleration mechanic. Another important mechanic is RateOfTurn, ROT=, the higher it is the faster a unit turns. Apoc and Rhino both have ROT=5

I also build apocalypse tanks if I notice an opponent that has build Kirov airships ("Kirov reporting") as this is the announcer quote on a troop training finished.

My good strategies is: Apocalypse tanks can take a lot of damage. I use them for drawing the defender's attention. Example: I distract opponents defenses while my other units will destroy everything.

0:40 Yes-But-No. Rate of fire factor is ignored here - While its true that initial alpha strike of 1 Apoc is bigger than that of 2 Rhinos, they fire faster resulting in better DPS. 2:55 Shouldnt that part be purely tested with similar value of rhinos only? Either way, multiplayer experience speaking here. Rhinos have 3 features that grant them massive edge and cause them to become main unit of any ladder multiplayer scenario. Those being Speed, Fire on the move ability and availability. In games where you see armies moving at all times and you are looking for a moment of opportunity to strike, slow units like Apocs have no use unless they're forced to camp a chokepoint. Only in FG's i see them being utilized and still not always fulfilling their job. Want quick AA? Just make Flaks. Want raid taskforce? Make rhinos. Conclusion from me, apoc bad, submit to glorious MBT spam masterrace. :v

@@SU76M Because Allies have more variety in their options in later parts of the game. Allied players usually switch to Mirages/Fortresses since they are just better alternatives. Soviets can keep up with MBT spam for entirety of the game.

@@CnCDune Personally I think it's an enjoyable bug. I can count just how little I used Prism Tower even with the bug active due to how often it misfires at Conscripts instead of tanks on top of Conscript having a Flak Armor also being a basic Rush Unit. Had the bug is not present then the Prism Tower would not even cross my mind.
