love the bananas !!! those big ole leaves gently waving in the breeze - very peaceful and soothing. At our former home, my banana was right outside our bathroom window and I loved it !! Here in N. Atlanta (Georgia) I have the musa basjoo and am lucky to be able to leave it in the ground over winter. I just cut it back to the ground and mulch it up really good. The "mother" plant dies but sends up new pups each year, so if you start out with one you'll (eventually) end up with 10 or 15 or 20 !!!! I love your red banana and just may give it a try this year. Thanks for sharing all your tips & tricks, encouragement and inspiration !!!!

She's backkkkkkk!!!!! You inspired me to purchase a banana plant last spring. By the end of the summer, she had grown through the half barrel wooden container. Completely destroyed the pot. So, I put her in the ground for the winter and she is already growing. Zone 7.
@BobbieJeanM8 ай бұрын
Amazing and encouraging! I am in zone 7 near the east coast so I never thought it might winter over here. And I wouldn’t be able to lift it to take it inside for the winter. Maybe now I will try planting one on the southeast side of my house which is protected from wind and the blazing afternoon sun! Hopefully I can find one around here.

I watch some Vietnamese ladies garden, building their home, sell produce, small game farming, etc. on KZbin. Their banana trees are VERY prolific and grow just about anywhere. I think about the only thing that would kill them is the cold winters we have. To bad your growing season isn't like theirs and you could get bananas. Enjoy as much as you can!
