Red Bull's 1200hp V10 Hypercar🤯

Meet the RB17 hypercar!
It’s been designed by Adrian Newey, chief technology officer at Red Bull Racing. He’s previously designed 12 Championship-winning F1 cars, and he’s now turned his attention to a hypercar that offers F1-style performance! And the stats are absolutely insane…
It’s powered by an incredible 4.5-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that offers 1,000hp. This is connected to a sequential automatic single-clutch gearbox with an electric motor. Combined, the RB17 creates an incredible 1,200hp, and all this power is sent to the rear wheels!
What’s more, the V10 red lines at a glorious 15,000 RPM! It can also reach a top speed of 230mph (which is restricted), but don’t expect to see one out on the road anytime soon - unfortunately, the RB17 isn’t road-legal.
Almost the entire car is built from carbon fibre, from the bodywork through to the chassis and even the gearbox! As a result, the RB17 tips the scales at only 900kg, and the aero helps it produce 1.7 tonnes of downforce at 100mph.
It’s limited to just 50 units, and they don’t come cheap - the RB17 comes with a price tag of £6,000,000! So is it worth it? Let’s take a closer look…

N.a. hybrid through. Which makes sense for the reluctant petrolheads, now that raxial hybrid ev motors are featuring truly insane horse power to weight ratios like the koenesigg dark motor making 800 freaking hp at just 88# in the gemera. Using this tech you can run a lighter n.a. high revving motor without any forced induction issues and have a beastly little raxial motor adding 250-800hp fill in across the whole rev range but with a tamer cooling system&much simpler lighter exhaust&packing setup underhood. 👍🏻 Even Porsche with their new 911 hybrid said the 1.9kwh pack which matches the corvette e ray for pack size, weighs the same as the regular lead acid 12v used to weigh 56#. So you could scale up to say 8-10kwhs adding 100# and get 20-25miles ev range for emissions compliance. Yet have a lighter simpler to build, more reliable and easier to tune mostly n.a. ice/hybrid powered monster=so the rich gasholes love it! 😀

Yes . That is great . But my gripe with these engines are all of these being made by only single company cosworth! Like all these great companies aston , bugatti , gordon murray and now red bull are all going to only Cosworth for a high revving n/a engine. At this rate, in 10 years time all ICE hypercars will have engines made by a single company cosworth only which looks less exciting to me.

It reminds me of my 95 Nissan Maxima with Deep Blue Pearl paint. I loved the color at the dealer, and didn't even realize until I got home in the sun, the car's paint also had a purple shade to it just as in this car. It wasn't as striking as this, but it was a nice paint job, first I'd ever seen of a dual color paint being it was 1995.

There is rumors of a ultimate attack mode to bring the bleed of downforce from 100mph to 170mph which is a huge jump. Newey already states the car pulls around 5Gs in corners but it is way more drag to downforce efficient compared to an F1 car.

Pretty cool backstory as Newey was bored out of his mind during the start of the pandemic in 2020 when the 2022 technical regs were in limbo, so he designed this no holds barred track car. What a machine! Sadly, probably only a small handful of the mega wealthy ppl who will buy these will probably just have it sitting in a museum or their personal storage with no intention to take it to the track.

This car probably doesn’t even have a launch control function as it uses the electric motor as 1 gear to start rolling as do many current LMP cars then the engine starts up, so they are terrible at dig starts and there’s no aim for that in racing

While Newey was working full time on this, the other teams caught up in F1. They knew that Max could keep them at/near the top for a long time with his generational talent but we’re seeing the cracks in this decision already.
