I watched his match analysis. He expected to go 0-5 or 1-5 and he didnt want to do that. So he fought very hard to get some sets for the sake of Aki. Unfortunately Broski concludes that AKI needs buffs (especially a better anti-air) because Menard kept jumping late, but still Broski couldnt punish/check him.

The Broski and MenaRD set was godlike. Broski got to showcase his adaptation, skill and high tier AKI play, and you got to see MenaRD adapt and "activate" in real time. He looked pressured when Broski took the lead even with that poker face. After that match MenaRD took no prisoners, he didn't let anyone establish a foothold again

I loved the cab theme. It was brilliant. I think the matches weren't as hype with so many 5-0/5-1, but the whole production elevated the thing to one of the best SF events I've seen. Also, it was a real heartbreaker to see Broski off the tournament in round 1, but he _was_ the only one to not get completely trampled by the bull, so moral victory there. lol

This Kumite event was awesome. I can't wait for more and I hope other FGC events take notice on what made this so fun. The current field of sponsored "FGC esport" events can be such a drag to watch and really just waste your time as a viewer. I tend to REGRET spending days watching them from beginning till end. Thank you Red Bull for allowing the FGC to put on an actual event that highlights the production, hosts, themes, players, matches, commentators, all in one package. I had a blast.
@TenjinZekken
@TenjinZekken 7 ай бұрын
The big problem is that there is no money. Red Bull can pull this off, but no FGC entity that isn't a corporation like Sony, Capcom, Bandai Namco, (aka mostly the publishers themselves), actually have the money to pull this off. Recall that as an invitational, they have way less player money run things with, which is a huge problem for 90% of FGC competitions. Being an invitational matters because way less players means way more time for production instead of production basically being squishing as many matches as they can into a day. EVO for instance doesn't do this because they are regularly already running over schedule fitting in their multitude of games. Most other offlines are also multi game because it's cheaper to rent out a venue for one weekend for all the games than have the games seperate. This will never be the norm for offline events, there just isn't enough money in the FGC. Red Bull did this, but you need other big corps to step up for this to be a trend, not just support of the fans.

And I think like you said we've focused so much on corporate, professional and high-end production that we've kinda left the personality and FUN of the FGC behind, this event was proof that we still have that, and it's worth to keep it.

Although it doesn’t have the setup like RBKumite with the crowd etc, it was still a fun offline event with a pretty high production quality. I also think our scene is pretty underrated as the guy who won this tournament never used the same character (based on the games that were streamed). While I wholeheartedly agree that the atmosphere and tone of the Kumite were miles ahead of all other offline events for SF6 so far, I think it's unreasonable to expect the same production values from venues like EVO or even CEO. An invitational with 48 players, a single game, and just the main stage can't begin to compare to the logistics nightmare that was EVO 2023, with 11k registered players just for the main 8 games, and over 80k attendees. Maybe you could expect SFL Japan levels of production, and even that may fall outside what their budget allows.
