One warning during a competition (not a match) with a let would be OK. If the coach happens to be speaking again, the point should immediately be given to the opposing team, no questions asked. After that, if the coach persists and continues to distract/cheat, he should be forced to watch the game from a far distance as punishment. This is pure cheating, this has to be taken seriously.

Currently, under the laws of badminton, the umpire can only play a let if the coach is coaching or causing a distraction during a rally. What are your opinions? I think a fault should be called immediately and the point be awarded to the opposing team.
@geraldsetiokusumo9094
@geraldsetiokusumo9094 2 ай бұрын
IMO, i think in this case, maybe yellow card will be awarding to the coach(same rules as player) also if 2 times than red card(same rules again) or maybe same as soccer/football when yellow card is warn and red card you must out from the court. Play a let is kinda unfair when the case is like Malaysian pair vs Japanese pair(long rally, no punishment for japanese)

Immediate red card with loss of point and serve. Everyone at this level know the rules so there is no plausible excuse! It's straight up cheating!

I think a fault or a red card is too lenient. A straight black card is more appropriate, any forms of cheating are unsportsmanlike and should never be tolerated.

Imajine getting a really high lift in the centre in which you can score easily and the opponents coach says something and now its let, like this could very well be used as a tactic to casue a repeat of the point.

I think the yellow/red card approach similar to that applied to players can also be applied to coaches. Regarding intentional shouting, we can leave it to the discretion of the umpire, as they can choose to not interrupt a rally if he sees that the other side is having advantage. This same logic is used in other sports as well, but it will give the umpire more responsibility.

I think it no longer should even be a let, it should be straight red card for the team of the particular player involve and point to the opposing player, this is cheating esp when the Japanese coach was telling the player to let go as it was out . if the coach doing it again in the second time ,black card , game over the opponent should be given a walk over . This will deter the coaches to shut up during the game . Sometimes we need harsh rules to deter things like this from happening

I think it depends on what the coach said during a rally. If he is just encouraging the players not to give up during a pulsating rally, it should be OK. Sometimes the umpire is quick to make a call when he perceived there is a fault when there isn't, what recourse does the players has?

It's time to BWF update this rule to become much stricter. Instead of a let, the umpire should be required to show a red card(1 point and serve given to opponent) if the coach unintentionally causing distraction, or a black card(disqualification) if the coach deliberately distracts the opponent or coaching the player during the rally. This can be considered as cheating and should never be tolerated.

if it happens as it did with viktor-prannoy, then give him a "only 1 warning" kinda like a yellow card in football. But if it happens in a game, he should be removed immediately from the game for the rest of the tournament... they need to be very clear about rules nowadays, and its good that umpire notices, but this isnt even close to being one of the biggest problems in badminton... there is time wasting, giving the shuttlecock away rudely and then theres the thanking coach at the end of the game before the other players and judges.. there is so much that has gone south in the international badminton scene right now that should be put to place... why is this a video to make instead of actually making a video that matters?

Seriously? Your bias is incredible. You just had to justify the chinese coach as non malicious didnt you, even though he spoke in between the rally. But you didnt say non malicious or unintentional when it was the indian coach talking to prannoy, even though the point hadnt even started then. Every coach speaks with their player before a point is being played, you can clearly see prannoy getting ready to recieve the shuttle when the coach speaks to him.
