In our latest video, we are excited to share the heartwarming story of Bill and Wendy Southerland, farmers whose dedication and resilience have transformed a humble hay field into a stunning 6-acre destination spot for lavender lovers featuring over 30 varieties of the flowering herb. 💜
From their humble beginnings, Bill and Wendy didn't know exactly how to start, but they knew they wanted to create a space where their kids could grow up and run around barefoot. Throughout the years, they've faced their share of challenges and triumphs, from living in their garage while building their dream home to overcoming weather challenges, and they even rose from the ashes after a devastating barn fire, but today, their focus is on cultivating serenity for themselves and their community.
At Red Chair Lavender, the Southerlands offer a range of services and products that go beyond the fields. Visitors can enjoy peaceful farm tours, participate in seasonal lavender workshops, and shop for handcrafted lavender products, including essential oils, sachets, and culinary treats. Each product is carefully crafted onsite to bring a piece of their lavender paradise into your everyday life, highlighting how agriculture touches us in so many ways beyond just food.
Through the Idaho Agritourism Association, which they helped found alongside their son Phil, the Southerlands are forging paths to creating resources for agritourism operators across the state, underscoring their passion for connecting people to the magic of our state’s rich agricultural heritage.
