It's the canonical path alright same goes for the ending when Arthur dies on the mountain peacefully staring at the sunset while may i plays, the other endings showed a wolf (at least the one with Micah killing Arthur by shooting him) did with a black background which felt like the game was telling us "you done fucked up feller" i imagine this is obviously where the honor system comes into play, Arthur being dishonorable didnt suit him especially towards the end when he openly spoke about wanting to redeem himself before he dies, it shows a deer throughout the game and showed that in the ending when Arthur dies peacefully.

I like how Arthur redeemed himself for what he did to the Downes family. He didn’t pressure them to forgive/like him, he repaired (as well as he could) the damage that he caused, and he made it clear to them that he doesn’t want their forgiveness; he just wants them to be okay.
@proctorritter51762 жыл бұрын
@Franky Torres that’s because this isn’t a favour of kindness to them; this is him repairing a large amount of damage that he dealt to their lives. This isn’t something that’s optional for Arthur to do, it’s something that he has to do in order to make things right, so that’s why he said, “don’t thank me”.

Arthur made me realize how most people are so bad at apologizing. They make it all about themselves and are just desperate for forgiveness. I've been the same. But he's genuinely just sorry about his actions and only trying to make amends for a better future for the people he's wronged rather than begging them for forgiveness just for his own peace. That's how it should be done. The emotional depth of this game's story and its characters is one of the best I've seen in gaming.

Thats smth i realized about myself awhile back. Once I have that peace i revert back to old habits and the cycle continues. Actually following the creed that Dutch would often always bring up to justify their consecutive massacres. If I'm not mistaken he claimed to be a robin hood/revolutionary enigma. This is just a videogame yet it still manages to convey the complexity among human beings and their dealings with morals and how often times tragic corrupt individuals such as Arthur, Charles, and Hosea (not self-righteous and deliberate narcissistic ones such as Dutch or Micah)are ironically the authentic outlaws spending their life trying to help those who they've encountered. Of course not when actually robbing or killing someone else. This is the only videogame that has forced me to think while playing, "Should I shoot this person or animal just because I can?" And "Perhaps I should help this individual in need. You never know when you might need spontaneous help. The kind of help that an honorable Arthur would consistently provide. What a great fictional character. If men like that ever existed, they certainly stopped making them that way. In conclusion I love this fucking game. Set the bar high for sure among games.
