This is an excellent video. I switched to a red dot in the past year and everything you speak about here is EXACTLY what I have experienced. Great info.

Just got a sig p365XL & took it out to try my first shooting with a red dot. I haven’t made up my mind yet on if I like it or will go back to iron sights yet. My shoot grouping was solid but I was slight of center to the left. I’m not blaming the red dot as much as I blame not going out shooting over the last year because I didn’t want to pay the crazy prices for ammo. But the red dot, being this was my first time definitely made it a different shooting experience. But that just means I need to get more practice in with it!

I sold my red dot setup years ago. Didn't need it. Now since everyone's playing red dots, I'm getting back into it. Although a good pair of HD XR iron sights do the same job. Target oriented was always my #1 and can be done with irons.

Nice vid. I don’t have a dot on my pistols because of cost v benefit, for now. We’ll see what the future holds.

ADE optics on ebay. $60 shipped. If you don't want to buy a slide, for $15 you can buy a mount that replaces the rear sight. Very cheap way to get in the game. It is a no-brainer if you have more than one handgun.

Should I co-witness irons?
@slappylink3 жыл бұрын
I saw this comment and felt like replying. This is a personal opinion, so just take it for what it is! No, you shouldn't co-witness irons (in my opinion). Zero your pistol dot at the distance you want (10-25 yds) to where you can "float" the dot above your irons. This way you effectively have a lower-third style sight picture with your irons. When you are shooting the dot, the irons will not obscure your sight picture; if you need to shoot your irons (for whatever reason) your front sight is not obscured by the dot (if it's still on) and you have the rest of the window to draw your eyes to the irons. This is just what I have found to work shooting red dots. My irons don't distract me from the dot, and I know they are there if I need them.

I think all RedDot companies should have a green option. Green is the easiest to see for the human eye and when ya start getting old and you're wearing glasses, easier/clearer is always better.
@nightfury68365 жыл бұрын
Uh... 😕 I don’t know bro. I think I’ll keep my batteries in my cellphones & flashlights!! There are already enough things that can go wrong with a pistol. IF I live long enough to be old (about 15 yrs from now) THEN I’ll worry about this shit BUT we’ll probably have lasers by then anyway. HEY!!! Where’s my Aimpoint sighted AR!?!? 👴🏾
