I actually run 100% of these cards in my starke of rath deck! When you're left alone too long the game state gets a little clunky and confusing with all of the checks and persistant effects, but its hilarious to see everyone at the table (myself included) try to decifer what the hell is going on. I go very heavy on enchantments/spells that bring down all players life to keep a good pace, lots of red wheel effects to add a bit more chaos (winds of change being my personal fav), and I run a number of the 'weirder' artifacts to double down on what the insanity that is red enchantments. If you build it wrong (I found this out with my first version of the deck), your play group is not going to want to play against the deck ever again - there's a fine line between controlled, well paced chaos and an absolute headache - build with care, and think about how people will react to these cards before you play em'!

I actually do use Raging River in a deck to effect. Mind you, I'm also the guy who still plays Banding strategies and misses ante. It goes in a Ghen, the Weaver deck, which is really a Killian pocket commander that capitalizes on the fantastic at bad cost target enchantments, sorceries and spells. White and black get him on the table and protect him from removal, and suddenly I have a brutal Voltron. White and red are very good at getting Blade of Selves, which means Raging River is very good at getting the matchups I want to ensure damage triggers. The level of suppressive, recursive enchantment game is staggering; this game is for friends that have lively and adaptive meta.

I run some of these in my Kazuul, Tyrant Of The Cliffs deck. I find that a lot of my mono red decks which don't go heavy into goblins, burn spells, or artifacts end up finding their strength in red enchantments like these. For No Quarter, I think the appeal is destroying walls, and protecting big glass cannon creatures. If I send my 5/2 commander in and it gets blocked by a 2/6 defender, my 5/2 becomes a pseudo 5/5 in combat, and my opponents 2/6 creature becomes pseudo a 2/0 until combat is over. Also multi-blocking would just wipe them all out right? so it discourages multi-blocking. I think it has a lot more to it than just destroying little chumps

Total War is one half of War's Toll from Battlebond. War's Toll adds if an opponent would tap a land for mana, (you) tap all their lands. Planar chaos is actually really good. Play out your turn then drop this, or play this and go to combat as an added layer of protection. If each player plays 2 spells on their turn, on average 1 will be countered, that's 3 spells countered for 3 mana - a better rate than blue. Then it has the chance to stick around again, but this comes at the downside of countering your own things.

No Quarter is a bane to Doran like decks and means autokilling most defenders. This also can squash first/double strike and deathtouch creature strategies. Lastly it maximizes trample damage potential but having 0 toughness to decrease the damage that would trample into the opponent.

So with "No Quarter" It's value comes in that it ensures creatures die, if I attack with a 3/3 and you block with an 1/5 for example, nothing was going to die but No Quarter's kills the 1/5 discouraging Walls and bounce blocking. additionally it's very good and preventing mass blocking, I attack with a 10/10 and you have 13 2/2 Zombies, blocking with 5 of them ensures the 10/10 dies, but with No Quarters in play 5 zombies die with no value and the 10/10 lives. Sure in both cases no damage was dealt meaning the reason for the blocking worked (and really in the latter you'd only block with 1 zombie not 5 because of No Quarters) but paired with and of the force blockers from before it can be an even more interesting card where you effectively turn giant creatures into mass removal spells or just straight up have token hate. (tho other problems arise because of the fact they are enchantments)
@PhoenicopterusR3 жыл бұрын
