One guy told me he needed money because his son was in the hospital. He even sent a picture. I reversed searched the pic, it was a "stockphoto"! But yes, he pushed the drama. Then got angry and tried to shame me and gaslight me when I called him out on it. Just block and delete. Don't even try to call them out. It only gives them a chance for more drama, manipulation and gaslighting mind games. NEVER give a guy money.

I helped 2 like that since they lost their family to Covid or accidents...such bastards...sorry t say so luckily I never fell for them just helped as a good person for their needs and lost few $$$ thousands I even told Oprah about his she was like wow urmila these will be punished soon, leave it to God and don't waste your precious time and your good soul These are white men from highly educated families holding good jobs too from the western world unbelievable...but true stories it's a pattern now for men to take this as their full-time job with communications as on line..thanks to Social media lol

Scamming doesn't only take place in apps but also with people you already met personally and have been with them for years. In my case, it happens to me and my soon-to-be-ex-husband. He has scammed me by marrying me but being a philanderer all these years. Then in turn every single woman he has gotten involved with he loved bomb them and then drops them, leaving them confused as to what really happened between them. I have put an end to it legally (now he is begging me not to go forward with the divorce) and I am happy to say that I am moving on my own because God has better waiting for me.

I’ve found that many will say that they live in my area but their job, and could be various jobs, engineer, working in oil etc.., has them out of the country but that they’ll be back in say a month.. as soon as this happens, I tell them to msg me when they are back. 100% of the time they’ve been scammers. Don’t engage and if you’re not sure, do what I do, wait and see, but do not engage in online conversation beyond learning they are “away for work”

Yes, I saw something similar but flipped: they would show up on the app as being in my area, but then it would turn out "Oh I was there for a week and the app still has me there, but actually" they're in some inaccessible spot -- working on an oil rig, working in western Canada, working in the film industry halfway around the world. Never close enough to actually meet.

I should have known some things many years ago. When someone wants quick reactions and doesn't respect your pace, or pushes you to the decisions which you don't want to get, it is a bad sign even if the other things are okay.

Big eye roll on this one. 1.) It's important to always listen to your intuition. 2) If it seems "too good to be true", than it most likely is not true. In that case go back to #1. 3) When you are grounded first in self-love then you won't feel the need to look outside of yourself for love or validation from these kinds of men who play on your weakness. 4) What you put out there you will attract. So, drama, con artists, and players will definitely find you if you are broadcasting on their frequency. Love, love, love yourself. If you are drawn to these kinds of experiences, take one of Mat's programs and clear your old beliefs. Eventually, you will be able to spot these unhealthy people and situations and you won't be attracted to them in the least.

I once dated a guy who did exactly that,: flashing big piles of money, big luxury car, saying I was the one on first date... And this thing, but I knew how it worked... Not on me tough.. He kept on looking me in the eyes( if you look longer,2 minutes, in to anyone's eyes, they fall in love according to science) I knew this one😂😂 Didn't fall for it, and then he faded.... Lucky me!🤗🤗

Yup! Pattern changes, the drama drama drama, mood swings, texting and calling but nothing in person after a while. Maybe the occasional "babe" or "miss you". Maybe a courtesy visit once a month or less. Your intuition kicks in long before you believe they are doing this. Trust it. Loving yourself enough to disengage is super hard but well worth saving your heart.

in my own experience, on the dating site I was on, the scammers were all widowers, they had one or two pictures of very good looking guys in tropical settings, they told you that they did not really think how you looked was so important, but more how wonderful you were "inside". The ones I spotted all worked selling vintage cars and - of course- travelled the world ! And they did not master the language....(French in this instance! ) I spotted them right away and blocked them after one or two days exchange. Or I let them know I had discovered who they were and it prompted them to end their profile and disappear within minutes ! . ah, and I also quickly noticed that they had a different time on their mobile phones, since they were in a very distant country.......most of the time in Africa ! it appeared in messages.

The red flags I have noticed are the following but it’s certainly not limited to these: Usually if they ask you to add them on WhatsApp right away us a huge red flag. Their English is usually broken or strangely worded that you know Americans don’t use commonly or intelligently. They overcommit quickly and claim that you are the only person that can help them in said situation with their problem. Ask these people to do a phone call if you are not sure. You can usually hear their accent of where they are actually located. Before meeting them FaceTime them or ask for social media accounts to determine if their presence adds up to the story they gave you about who they said they are. If they have really attractive pictures and zero likes or friends it’s suspicious or see how old the account is. Most scammers will just create an account to a profile a month or two ago to try to “prove” who they are. 🚩 Stay safe out there and never be afraid to love the right person. ❣️

It happened to me one time and when I said I was disappointed that he even asked me this question, he said he was so sorry, he didn't want to upset me,.. I said ok, fine. And that was it. This is a good warning video but I have another warning too: Scammers learn and get smarter (like the one in the Netflix documentary - he knew what were commonly known red flags so he went further to manipulate these women), I bet some of them even watched or will watch this video and will learn what to be careful with. So while of course it's good to watch out for such red flags, it's important to be careful anyway and to try to take a step back to look at the relationship objectively because some ridiculous manipulations aren't that obvious when we are close and they might not be the obvious red flags.

I met a man online..a couple of good conversations on the app, then he asked to use google chat as it was easier than the dating app..in our conversation he tells me he works in special services and is on the tail end of his contact & currently was in Kuwait…but would be done in a month…I said good-bye buddy 👍🏼

I dated someone once who wanted to marry me after being with me for only one month. He asked em to marry him in a ceremony without either of our families present as that would be more romantic and intimate. He then asked me for money and assumed when we went places that I would be paying for everything. I did pay once but he paid every other time and soon learned he couldn't scam me. He left three months later and I was thrilled to be rid of him to be honest.

There is a big possibility people might blame you for your own mistakes, because it's hard to digest for them too. So you just deal with it yourself. Thanks Matt, very helpful topic. A man told me that he was going to cook me a home cooked meal for our second date. When I arrived at his home, he had heart shaped dinner plates, fresh flowers, romantic music playing and promised a future Disney vacation. After the date, he called me and invited me on a weekend trip to Maine. I agreed and after one night at a cheap hotel in New Hampshire, he decided not to continue dating me and we never made it to Maine. He also insisted that I pay for all my meals and refused to get dessert when I wanted some. After an awkward return trip with him to upstate New York, he texted me two days later and asked me to reconsider dating him even though he ended it with me. I’m wiser now from what I can see was a type of love bombing. The heart plates seemed a little much for a second date but I didn’t listen to my instincts and went on that weekend trip with him. Amy

He saw I was vulnerable and week from previous narcistic abuse and swooned in to save me. He promised me whatever I was going through we would get through it together (love bomb). He promised a home, trips, meeting his family (carrot and stick), instead he ghosted and played victim to my friends only later to be angry and try to live with me. He was delusional and controlling after winning me over by insisting sex comes first on relationships to bond. I let my standards down just for him sacrificing my self for him.

I've found (on dating sites) the same guy with different 1st names and from different towns. Often from a very small town in the same state as the woman. I'm a grammar/writing freak, so I can also tell when their message wording does not fit the "M.D." or attorney or CEO they say they are. It's pretty apparent.With one guy, after 2 weeks of amazing stories and drama, he actually tried to tell me (a registered nurse) about how his aunt went into a coma with shock after his mother died in the hospital--real soap opera stuff. Intuition is powerful--if it seems too good to be true, check it out, test it out. Stay empowered and go at your own pace--thanks, Mat!!

Mat, this is exactly what I went through, but on a smaller financial scale. If and when you do say anything to family members about this new person in your life, make certain you aren’t also being lovebombed by that family member. (This is for those of you who do not live around your family members). If you are, you have to make a decision to walk away from both of those people and cut ties permanently.

Hi, Mat, I have met a scammer, his Dejan, he was so loving and very attentive… He was very busy interested in details of my work and if I am a citizen here. The first red flag was that suddenly he went to work as a contractor to Dubai, then he got COVID, then he called me hardly speaking and saying that his equipment broke and he needs me to loan some money 💰 I have told him, that I would love to get money for myself!! Hi Mat! Thank you for your amazing work! I would like to share my thoughts. I do think it’s very naive to be trapped like those women from the documentary were. First, one must learn who they are and what they want in life. When you see a man (too short and far from handsome btw) that posts on social media only a party life and you feel attracted, unless you’re in your early 20s, something is very wrong. Real life is not only parties. Who can believe that the party guy is reliable and wants to get committed in a relationship? Besides, does someone think that it’s possible to build a healthy relationship with the party guy? His life was pure ostentation. Sounds pretty much like a farce. This is, for me, the first huge red flag. Then he owns a diamond company and are a millionaire/billionaire but never offered a little diamond to them. No one thought to check out “his” company? Third, can you imagine a very busy person who uses only WhatsApp and is always ONLINE there (as the Dutch said)? It’s doesn’t sound like a business man life. He has never been loving and caring towards them; not to my standards. And to finish, who wants to have a relationship with a kind of man who has enemies that try to kill him? After all that you still want to give the neurotic stranger the money you don’t own? Really??? Especially when he threatens you and tell you to sell your house. What a wonderful protective man! The perfect partner (being very sarcastic here)! If not the money and apparently good life that seduced those women, what was that? We must pay attention to the the big red flags they show us all the time. I met this man online and he pretended to be a physician, like me. On day he asked me why I was walking and not using my car in a way that sounded like he wanted to confirm I had a car, and this was a red flag for me. So I went to check him out and discovered that the university he said he had graduated from was closed about 50 years ago. I confronted him with this information and he obviously has never answered and disappeared. I hope you all, lovely ladies out there, take a very good care of yourselves and don’t allow the scammers to make a damage in your lives ♥️

Talked with this guy on FB who immediately started love bombing me. I asked him to back that off as we didn't know each other at all yet. He did, but some of it crept back in. I was wary from the beginning. Day 3 of chatting he asked if I could send google play cards to him. So he could talk to his son in boarding school. Cut that off real fast. The chat disappeared and his profile just as fast. A red flag from the start was that he said he was from L.A. but was working in Ireland, wife had died of cancer a few years ago. Had to put son in U.K. boarding school to take job abroad. His pix didn't quite have an L.A. vibe, and his writing patterns neither indicated L.A. or Irish. So I really wasn't surprised. Just wanted to play it out to see which way he'd go. No, I would never have done more than chat.

I’ve had two experiences with scammers. I communicated with both over text. I never met either one in person. One of the scammers was laughably obvious. I blocked him with the swiftness. The other attempted to be subtle so I sat back and watched the show. When he finally started talking about “investing” I told him I wasn’t interested in investing in anything. When he brought up investing again I told him all I have for a man is love than I blocked him. So sad there are people out there like that. Be aware everyone. This man did every classic manipulation tactic under the sun to get what he wanted and when that wasn't enough he perjured his way into a restraining order and more when I finally did end things with him. It's fun to ask them a specific question about the area in the USA they are pretending to be from. For instance, one guy used very awkward English and said he was from New Jersey. It's common in New Jersey to say "what exit?" when someone else says that they are from Jersey as well. The most common meaning of the question is what exit are you closest to from the New Jersey turnpike which pretty much runs the length of the state. ( Some people use the Garden State Parkway ) at any rate the vast majority of people from New Jersey would answer that question and laugh. They wouldn't insist on getting to know you deeply on WhatsApp instead 😅. I blocked him and moved on to someone who could properly discuss a Philly Cheese steak instead.
