The only difference in cooking methods is texture & whether it's an all beef hot dog or a meat slurry hot dog. These carts have all the fixings though which help tremendously cover up error in the type of hot dog akd the way it's cooked. Either way, just like pizza....even a bad hot dog is somewhat edible. As long as you dont put any ketchup 😂😂

Probably didn’t wash his hands after going to the bathroom. 6. The inside of that cart probably hasn’t been cleaned in ages and has bacteria growing inside of it. Where I live, we have dirty taco people on the street corner in a pup tent no gloves. When the cars drive-by exhaust and dirt get all over your food situation they don’t wash their hands or wear gloves so they’re handling money and food. No health department guidelines are practiced.

If your by popular tourist attractions in NYC you have a better chance of getting a fresh dog. Personally, I stay away from these guys because no just no. Only way I am eating a dog from them is if I am truly desperate.

I was in New York this past May and I couldn't find a dirty water hot dog anywhere. There were plenty of hot dog stands and carts but not a single one had dirty water. They were all grilled and they all tasted like s*** and the buns were stale. But when I was in Chicago last summer, every hot dog stand was freaking delicious

My step dad took me to a place once that served hot dogs like this. They were gross so he bought me a cheeseburger insted.. How do yall eat that stuff? 😝

I got an Italian sausage with peppers, onions and ketchup from one of these little vendors a long time ago, and Idk how, but it was one of the best things I ever had. It was so damn good. It wasn't just boiled in water like these hotdogs. I'm not exactly sure how he cooked it. I just know that it wasn't boiled in water and it was delicious.

Agreed. There are hot dog/sausage cart venders here in Windsor, Ontario generally have a grill for their meat - they charge a hell of a lot of money for them too! A hot dog with a bun and some condiments for $5? He probably bought the whole pack of wieners for $5... They are incredibly delicious though - and when you leave the bar at 2 AM after a night of drinking? There's few things better at that point!

​@dilantl7603 ketchup doesn't go on hotdogs. The reason is tradition. Back in the days before refrigerator scamming vendors would use low quality meats and old dogs that were spoiled. To combat the bitter off taste they would use ketchup or tomatoe based sauces to hide the spoiled flavor. So vendors who had good quality refused to offer ketchup as a sign their dogs were made from good quality cuts of meat and were not spoiled. So ketchup on a dog became taboo and a sin against the great sport of baseball! It's common in the south to use ketchup, but we also typically have pork dogs and not beef. I'm southern born and raised, but I wouldn't be caught dead with ketchup on a dog. We also prefer them grilled over boiled and most southern folks outside of a city wouldn't dare pay for a hotdogs because they probably have a pack in the fridge at home.
