I love Noodlers inks and was wondering why you hadn’t swatched any of them. Now I know. 😅 I haven’t had the same experience with their inks but have also not used red. If you ever do decide to give the brand another shot, try out the Golden Brown. The shading on it is insane, though I almost never knew because the swatch is nothing like how it writes. An odd ink line for sure. Another weird one is Rome which goes down a purple but then dries a yellow brown. Or Black Swan in Australian Roses which looks like Private Reserve Black Cherry with certain nibs and a bright pink magenta in others.

Haha yeah...I am definitely willing to try more of their inks, but the ones I have tried so far have not done well with drying down. I think it may be the TRP? I'm not sure. I haven't tried them on Rhodia, Midori, or any of the other papers, but maybe I will try that and have a better experience :)

The Song of Scarlet reminds me of Diamine Inkvent All the Best (I do not remember exactly but I believe it is from 2021 set). It is so close that I would consider it over FWP purely based on price.

I agree with the Noodler's. I got 2 other Noodler samples and swatched a few months ago... they are still wet and sticky to touch.

I wonder if it is only on certain papers. I think Rhodia may hold it better but I'm not 100% sure

Lovely inks. I have a few of those, and I have to admit, I was super disappointed with Song of Scarlet, because it is almost exactly the same as the Diamine Inkvent All the Best. (Which I also already don't use) They literally look almost identical next to each other. I wish I knew a shop where I could actually order samples and it won't end up costing almost as much as a full bottle (with international shipping, VAT and handling it's really just very expensive and I have not found a local shop that sells samples) I've gotten stuck with full bottles of inks I just don't like several times, unfortunately. Song of Scarlet is sadly one of them. :(

Oh no! I haven't tried All the Best by Diamine, but if it is the same that is good to know for me. As for samples, if you have a local Facebook group or any ink friends in your area maybe see if they can send you samples of inks they may have :)

Thanks. De Atramentis seems to do a nice job with shimmer. I agree the red copper is stunning. The magenta red gold that De Atramentis makes is gorgeous.

Lamy Red definitely would be categorized as a coral in my book. Beautiful colors. I've used Cardinal a lot. I started using Spiced Apple. Its definitely darker. The shimmer is beautiful. Thanks for sharing! I love these videos 😍

I am enjoying your ink swatching -- it's fun. I think for a writing ink, I would like the Spiced Apple. I would like to write something with the Camelien Red Copper because it looks like the writing sample shimmers very nicely. Also, I think that the Song of Scarlet might be better for me than Writer's Blood -- it would be fun to try it in my journal. I have 5 inks now with Pelican Violet being my most recent purchase and it seems it is two inks depending on whether I am writing with a fine nib or if I am writing with with a broader nib. I have Monteverde Ruby but it is not really the red that I wanted because it has a little more orange? in it than I was looking for. The Monteverde Ruby seems to be a nice flowing ink and I do enjoy writing with it but I wouldn't use it in letter writing.

The song of scarlet is gorgeous. The subtle shimmer and sheen make it a very unique ink! I haven't tried Monteverde Ruby, but I have found that a lot of their reds lean either orange or pink to me, but I do love the brand in general for their inks. Spiced apple is really pretty too! Its darker in a broader nib, and a little more "red" in a fine nib :)

Hi, could you tell me what size eyedropper you use, so I have some idea of what size I need. Could you also tell me what type of mount you are using to film this? I assume it is some sort of desk mount for a phone?

The eyedroppers are standard size pipettes. I'm not sure if they have any specific milliliter measurements. You can get them from Goulet Pens or Amazon :) The camera mount is from Amazon (amzn.to/3uephyg) I use a Canon A series camera that was gifted to me a few years ago. The mount was an investment but I need it to be stable for the camera. I do believe they have a smaller version too that is more affordable in price that can hold a phone! Hope that helps!

I don’t get the hate to Noodler’s inks. Those are inks for writing and people who write, not for doing cutie things as swatching colors , glittery bold lettering and making artsy stuff. It’s not only the range of colors, the quantity of different properties is just amazing. Some feather like crazy because they are not made for juicy nibs, others are drier and denser, but you’ll always find the exact properties you need for your type of writing, paper and nib. You’ll never get novelty overrated fancy stuff like shimmers and sheeners but nothing shades on a finer nib as a Noodler’s ink: Ottoman Azure, Navajo Turquoise, Black Swan in Australian Roses, Apache Sunset, 54th Massachussets, Lexington Gray, super shaders.

Thank you for sharing!! I personally haven't had good experience with Noodlers, but they do offer a great range of colors, and an excellent price in the USA. The purpose of these ink explorations is mainly to compare colors from different companies and different shades that I personally have in my collection. I find that they don't dry in writing for me, not just in swatches. I put them in fine nibs, extra fine nibs, and even the driest of writers that I have, and they don't behave well for me. I will say I only use 3 kinds of paper (Tomoe River, Midori, and Rhodia) so there may be other papers that handle the ink much better! I do agree that the ones you have listed out are gorgeous, they just don't work well for me personally. Everyone has a different experience, and I am just sharing mine :)
