Started playing in like 07" at 17. Sorta stopped playing like 3-4 years later... Now 29 and her videos have brought some new joy to my Covid life! Got my bass re-stringed and serviced 2 days ago due to Julia's Insperation 😁 Love her work. She brings the groove back to bass

From what I can tell this song was released on May 5th 2016. Ten days later Julia posted this vid of her playing it like she wrote it. It's clear that she is a pro level player.

@@jkunz27 I'm gonna need to stop you right there. She's an amazing player indeed, but from that to conposing an entire bassline and playing it like Flea, it's a long way. She basically gets everything laid perfectly and adds some fills most of the time or goes with the melody. If you're familiar with music theory you'll see what I mean.

@Alastair Jackson dude. Windows allows you focus on another task while a KZbin video plays in the background, so in effect, it's an 'audio', not a video. Having to explain this kind of thing is more of a struggle.

I miss my baby sister so much when I watch your videos. Not only do you resemble her (the cheeks especially), but she also learned how to play the bass when she was 10. She passed away when she was 15 and the last song she practised was DT's Erotomania. Keep growing and don't stop playing because you rock! 💖

You've done a lot of stuff that is more technically challenging but I just love the way this one feels. It's such a brilliantly written part, so simple but so powerful - and this is a perfect performance, you give it all the energy and heart it needs but not more. You're right at home in this one, i love it. I come back to this video often because it just feels so darn good on my ears and my heart, every single time. Thanks Julia!

There are differences but if you want to play right you got to play right can't fool around with midget hands in the middle of the fretboard all nervous looking mmm this is not a ukulele or a guitar

However rudimentary find a way to record yourself. The amount you would have improved would be ridiculous. I started playing guitar when I was 16 and compared to my peers I sucked but I kept recording here and there and when I was in a similar spot I went back and listened / watched and the difference was night and day. Eventually I went on to play live for many years. Only benchmark against yourself, you’ll get there.

I'd recommend learning some theory, helps alot to understand what you play and also be able to jam better with other musicians, even if you have to tell the guitar player what key he is in all the time

You have a really unique style. When you pedal on the string you bend at the first knuckle as opposed to the knuckles on your hand itself. Makes for a much quicker attack. Billy Sheehan does that. Really love your style and sound. Subscribed.

I'm about to turn 17, my bass is just a few days away from me. My parents decided to buy one due to quarantine and to expand myself artistically. I can't wait for my first bass!!! Practice makes master. :) 3 months ago I couldn't slap, but now I'm getting the hang of it. Take it slowly and try to add your own style so you feel comfortable with whatever you're playing

Practice... Bass is the easiest rock instrument ever... Just please learn rest stroke for a fuller, more profound sound. I used to play classical guitar, and one day I got invited to a band as a bass player. 2 months later I was playing Nectar, by Opeth. Bass is so easy, I felt like cheating.

She does have headphones on, there could be a click. Also, when RHCP plays it live Flea & Josh cue on eachother. That doesn't mean you shouldn't work on it heh - just don't get discouraged - even the pros use clicks and cues sometimes, it's part of the game - especially in songs like this when things are washy and blurry for a while. You definitely should work on it though, rhythm & tempo are paramount always.

The talent was honestly overwhelming, and the fact that you actually feel the music and aren't only technical about it is phenomenal (most bass players do feel music, it's mostly guitarist that are overly technical without feeling) you're amazing and this is my favorite cover of any song ever

Well, maybe because it doesn't sound like the original with the bass that loud?! I have no idea what people could possibly expect when it says 'bass cover' after the title. Or maybe they're even dumber and think she isn't really playing, I've seen people like that on similar videos, the mentally limited have an unlimited potential of stupidity. But she still may probably have the best overall like/dislike ratio on YT!
