Unfortunately, John hates his guitar playing on this album as he felt forced to play crunching over the top riffs. RHCP rarely plays anything off of Mother's Milk except Higher Ground and rarely Knock Me Down. Too bad as Mother's Milk is my favorite RHCP album.

look at 4:05 you can see the string.

yea, I was unsure about whether he was just lazy about his strings or if he actually broke it lol

Every gigging guitarist ever has had to deal with broken strings.
@theshredguitarist253 жыл бұрын
Hes playing a Gibson Les Paul here, different than his usual Fender Strat. On a Les Paul when a string breaks your other strings wont be out of tune at all.

And now that John is back they have to play this again!!!
@featheryfemme3 жыл бұрын
@@c6blackvette17 they stopped playing this before john even left. the only things they've played from mother's milk during john's second stint were fire, (which was recorded with hillel, so that doesn't even really count) pretty little ditty, (once) higher ground and nobody weird like me. it's been well documented that he didn't like the guitar tone he had used on the album, so he didn't want to play songs from mother's milk. i doubt they'd bring it back after 31/32 years.

Lyrical wise, maybe they think it's not cool to sing youthful and "carefree-themed" Lyrics in their 60s

when John was young he play like a kid..I mean he was already a guitar hero but is very different..he played metal riff in this era with an extreme guitars!

Giulio Strammiello i prefer young john more because after californication his music got less heavy and less funky

Saqlain Haider do you know in the original recording of this song John makes a speed volume swell before the pre chorus?
@thenewyorkpauls6 жыл бұрын
Giulio Strammiello He was into the whole Steve Vai thing when he first joined, also a huge GNR fan... kinda unfortunate lol.

thenewyorkpauls what do you mean unfortunate?
@SagaciousFrank2 жыл бұрын
Only because the producer forced him to play more metal riffs and add layering. Frusciante really didn't like it.

John started to develop his own style and that influenced a lot in the band. They still had that raw energy with songs like 'Around the world' and 'Tell me baby'.
@reddrivers52692 жыл бұрын
😂 because Rick Rubin wanted Anthony to be more melodical and sing. From BSSM, through One hot Minute, and Californication is where he transitioned to a singer

I bet if you were around the LA area back when Hillel was still with them, you woulda been mind blown as well. I really only listen to MM and beyond myself, but they were killin it even in the early 80’s from a live show standpoint. Absolute force of nature
