Hey everyone! We're dropping things down to the lower end of the sound spectrum today and picking up that extra long plank we lovingly call the bass guitar, as today we're gonna be slapping our way through another Red Hot Chili Peppers cover with their tune, Hump De Bump! It's always a welcome change of pace, moving on to some funky bass goodness after diving so deep into the more extreme metal stuff. Although my hands would disagree, as after each bass video it takes a few days before my hands will allow anything musical to happen.
This song is such a fun tune to play and uses a few different techniques throughout. The verses are almost purely two string slapping with the odd additional fill that adds some popping, while the chorus is normally just finger work, with lots of pull-offs and hammer-ons (at least a lot for a bass, it always feels weird doing a lot of legato work on these thick strings.) I added a little solo during Chads drum solo, mostly because I didn't want to just stand there like a bloody tool while the sounds of pots and pans being smacked around circle the air.
As always, if ya dig the video then remember to give it a like and subscribe to the channel!
