Backing vocals are such an art, John is brilliant at it. He mixes up the range, throws in some random hooks, bit of mumbling Brilliant

Not gonna lie, and I want to make it clear that Josh is an awesome guitarist and has done amazing work since being with RHCP, but, dude, John has this way of making a grown man tear up, just a bit, with not only his genuality (made up word), and guitar playing, but his vocals I feel any true peppers fan knows how great Josh is for the band, but a part/piece of us died when Johnny boy left. He's so cool and I'd be honored and humbled just to sit down, play my guitar, and talk with him.

@CloroxBleach-rh4db4 жыл бұрын
For anyone that hasn’t played an instrument on a stage before (with amps) this is basically what it’s like, you completely tune out everything else but your own instrument/vocals.
@cuzkyr50664 жыл бұрын
How do in ear monitors work. Like where are they pulling their sound from and what is the person hearing. What about each person compared to the other other members, like what differences?
@Pufedu2 жыл бұрын
@@cuzkyr5066 The amps on their stage are miced. The mics run to the mixing board where they get the feed for the in ear monitors. The sound guy can make a personal mix for each player. For an example here John has his guitar, vocals, and Chad's drums on his ears. Chad probably has himself and Flea on his monitors, and possibly bit of vocals. I'd imagine Flea has himself + Chad + probably little bit of guitars for himself and Anthony has more of a general mix (little bit of everything). You basically always want to have yourself as the main thing in your monitors because you (obviously) need to hear yourself the best. The others are just preference. Obviously you need to have drums in your ears to keep time, but as you can hear here John doesn't bascially have Anthony's vocals in his ears at all.

How can we hear the crowd in the beginning? Should there be no other noise in the monitor?
@cuzkyr50664 жыл бұрын
Wondering the same. I need to look at how in-ear monitors work
@andyjmwm3 жыл бұрын
Many bands who use IEMs have "ambience" mics pointing out at the audience to give a more natural sound. Without them the monitor mix sounds really flat.

@@dovahkihn5343 You don't know how much he has coming from stage. I play in a band with in ears, this is basically what it's like as a guitarist/singer because there's plenty of bass guitar in the air and you can FEEL that, you don't need that much in your ears.

Sylvain Navarro yeah you can kind of tell during most of the 2007 tour, that Anthony was really starting to age, and frusciante’s energy just dropped in between the years 06-07. Same with flea

He must wear ventilated IEM's so he can hear the crowd.
@stopit29643 жыл бұрын
interesting that he isn't getting a lot of anthony in his headphones.
@liligman2 жыл бұрын
Probably so he can keep the melody stable 😂 without Anthony throwing him off sometimes
@stopit29642 жыл бұрын
@@liligman its still such a strange idea that some bands can't hear all the members during shows, or play with click tracks. back around 2012 tool tried out a tour where none of the other guys could hear maynard, the three of them could only hear each other. there have been little mistakes live over the last few years they make where the mistakes let you know that is no longer the case. in the case of a click, how is any performer supposed to enjoy the show hearing a constant high pitch beep throughout every song that no one else can hear?
@liligman2 жыл бұрын
@@stopit2964 I play bass in a band now and depending on the venues, so far it’s been smaller clubs but even then generally the stage is noisy and hard to hear the other members besides drums, we’ve been thinking about getting an in ear rig for around 1000$ to solve this
@stopit29642 жыл бұрын
@@liligman understandable. but tool has been on in ear monitors, I'm pretty sure, from lateralus on forward. its just crazy to think that for an entire tour they experimented with not hearing maynard but he could hear them. and its crazy to think that john, at least for a little while, experimented with not hearing anthony in his in ear monitors
