My dad listened to RHCP everyday. When my mama died on 1996, I saw him drinking at the porch, listening to "Tearjerker". I was hiding behind the door, but he knew that I was there. He called me, then "My Friends" played next. I stood there in front of him, a little kid who knew nothing asking him if mom's gonna come back, he just said, "She's a bird now, she's flying free." At that moment, my mind's so innocent, I can't fully comprehend what he just said that time, but I can remember clearly, the music and the beat of "My Friends", becoming the backdrop of his anguish. 2007, Dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Throat cancer. He went surgery. He can't barely talk. He'd just nod and smile and frown... but every single time.. after chemo... he'd sit on the porch.. i'll watch him listen to RHCP, "Snow", "Stadium Arcadium" etc... Now, I'm carrying the legacy. Let's just say that I've been a fan from 1996 up until this day. I never miss an album, never miss a song. For me, they're not just a band, they're a family who was with us, on tough times, and good times... Rock on forever.

Most bands that have been around for 40 years are only known for their work during their first decade... amazing how the Chilli Peppers are still profusely creative! They have maintained their style while still evolving. Much respect.

Your dad's a cool dude with good taste! I was just thinking about their age and a lot of bands just quit making new music when they have half the catalog that the RHCP have to their name. I'm sooo in love with my the chili peppers. I've gotsta see em when they come to philly cause ima be hella mad if I can't. I've been to MAD concerts but I know that it'll be the fucking best, by far. I don't really like the new song's they just put out in the new album. But I'll always have love for em. I'm surprised that they'll still entertaining,, in shape, and how much they put into their music. I've also read "Scar Tissue" about twenty times. It's so real and I can relate so much to his life and what addiction does to anybody. I'm sure we're not proud of being a useless, hopeless, reckless person. When we were young we didn't plan to be addicted to drugs or say I'm gonna throw my life away and spend every dime I have to be feeling normal or escape from whatever the situation is at the time. But drug's definitely don't discriminate. Like when I was younger and didn't know shit about drugs, I thought dope was for white people, crack was for black people, and coke was for rich people that could afford their habit. I'm sometimes jealous of the fucking people that can function and still use and party. Like the movie "The wolf on wall street." He's the perfect example of somebody that can do all those fucking drugs and still have cash leftover and or never get looked down upon for his habit. Everybody in that movie is whyling out! I get maddd jealous that they can have it all with no percussions or problems but actually they do at the end but he still got released and was still a millionaire. Fuck you!
