When I was a young kid, about late 60s maybe 1970, I remember when Green Hulk became a gray Hulk. I forgot about Betty until I thought about Gray Hulk. I don’t remember the death of Betty, though. About 30 to 40 years ago, I asked my wife if she remembered why he changed color - she didn’t. I think back in Avengers #1, Hulk was green and I don’t remember him being gray in any Avengers. Red Hulk at max strength is close to L1 Banner Hulk. Base Banner Hulk is L0 so Red is stronger than Green at his normal base Level. Unfortunately for Red Hulk and every other super powered wanna be it has been shown Green Hulk can increase and increase his Strength , recently at a L10 level and way beyond that level in the recent Immortal Hulk run.

Why! Why does practically everyone neglect the fact that Red Hulk was made through a combination of Gamma AND Cosmic energy! It's why he turned Red! And if you're talking can Red Hulk beat Green Hulk, the answer is Absolutely. He has done so many times. His resting power level is twice that of Hulks. Plus he has far greater combat ability. However his main weaknesses: The madder he gets, the hotter he gets, and the fact that if he absorbs too much radiation he would burnout his ability to ever transform to human again, which to Ross would be tantamount to death. Those two factors mean that Rulk must end the fight quickly. He has no way to cool his internal temperature so getting madder and thus hotter would be to his own detriment. And he can make himself stronger by absorbing radiation, meaning as the Hulk gets madder and puts out more gamma radiation, Rulk could absorb it and make himself stronger as well. But seeing as he has a limit he would not cross, that also becomes useless past a certain point. So if the fight drags on, he would lose the Advantage and Hulks ever increasing strength would ensure his victory.
