The entire time listening to (both) of their videos, their commentary is very negative on almost everything other than the most superficial - and then end up calling it as a whole 'mediocre'. That is not what I heard from them at all. They strike me as burned out, apathetic, and criticizing folks for being what they used to be: proper critics. They lived long enough to not only see every franchise they love be ruined, but also for them to become the very thing they used to rail against - apathetic consumers of slop. Pathetic and sad.

Do you watch any of their other content? They do tons of other content on smaller films

I watch everything they put out, have done so for many years. Bought their DVDs back in the day, got Spacecop, etc. They do quality *other* content. But this was not it. Label does not match Description, so to speak. Seems low effort, burnt out, and out of touch tbqh.

@@evilmisterspock I think thats the problem. There other videos they seem much more interested. Where with bigger things like Star Wars and other blockbuster movies. They seem to only be doing it because of obligation and because of the clicks. Honestly at this point they sound bring in someone who is fan and passionate. It would be an interesting contrast.

@@sandmancinema6859 I just don't get that impression. Whenever they've covered something pop culture-y, I never feel like it's the same half-assed copy and paste content, like a Critical Drinker or someone similar. If they didn't overtly like it, they will focus on some interesting context surrounding the work, like they did with Acolyte. Otherwise, they just cover movies they like. But in both cases, the videos are well researched, edited, and at least thoughtful. Plus, they haven't taken a cent of advertising money in their entire existence. Do I agree with them on everything? No, but I do think they have maintained intellectual honesty throughout, and apologize when they miss the mark.

@@sandmancinema6859 A good point, and that really would be a good idea for them to explore. They just do not at all seem to care about these properties, and it puts them at odds with some of their audience, who very much followed their work because they care about those very same properties.

I watched other people coverage before watching the show thinking they were playing up the emptiness and I might as well not have sat down and wasted hours because those summaries were ALL there were to the show. I don't know how people are watching this, the only way I could think this was interesting enough to be a "Guilty Pleasure" if I were heavily drugged and heavily distracted while doing so. There's no subtly, no depth to this show what so ever but the coverage has been enormous yet all the people I like are talking about this because it's hot for the algorithm.This show is the epitome of slop and wouldn't even be in the top two if they were doing a best of the worst that includes it. Idk what's going on in their heads.

Honestly I think they went after both sides in the first video. Calling everyone dumb for getting riled up by the show. So to admit the show was trash would make them look dumb. Also there love of Star Wars is gone. So they don't care as much.
