Besides 1 Dorian Minor is also my favourite, besides 2 I find this machine very substantial in the evolution of music, since it makes making music for people with talent and creativity whom are not seasoned instrumentalists, or do not play an acoustic instrument at all. Ring modulation, is reviewed now, thus it is a Moog in a Korg in a Roland, or a synth in a modular system in a mixer in a effect processor in a computer with 64 GB ram. Haha

@@JackAcid Hey sorry to bother you :P i've been looking for a groovebox and mc707 and deluge are both on my shortlist, so to speak.. I've heard the mc707 has a way better synth engine, and having more active controls on the unit might be nice, but what about the deluge makes you so happy with your choice ?? it does look real easy to get the basics down on deluge atleast, im more worried about the very shitty screen on it (i can barely read what it says half the time, but might just take some getting used to)

I am from Holland. I am astounded by the seamlessly infinite amount of possibilities in creativity processing musical performances. First thing like this was Medusa. Medusa was holy for me and all was about Medusa and though I still needed monitors and I was about to get the rode microphone. After that It is Deluge; I saw a woman creating her track in like 10 minutes, and it is still haunting me for it was a pearl. I have met other machines with an even wider grid. It is all about the grid, but not how big the grid itself is. I was granted the rode from a friend and now I am saving money for the Arturia Brute, but I will keep my eyes on this. It will be first after this Arturia Brute, a Mackie 32 channel, moog mother and then the sandstorm.is gonna hit me. The generous and genius of this mindblowing thing.

Not all the way through the video yet but there is probability on notes in the last firmware, which is incredible. So is the undo feature. Also it supports WiFi sdcards. Someone on the deluge Facebook page has made an app to allow you to edit kits etc via WiFi sdcard on pc, so you don't need to take out the SD card to edit or add more samples etc. Incredible community.

Hey! Great livestream! One thing that I have used that resolves any audio delay is wirecast. OBS has a audio latency compensation option however it struggles with variable bitrates. wirecast is a lot more than the free option however it works great for livestreaming. Another great option is to use your 5d mkii and use a blackmagic miniultra studio to capture the HDMI out which also carries the sound. so its all channeling through one source.

Re the comment about giving the musicians what they want, they are even aware that as they have time to improve the deluge, the value increases. This results in an increasing price over time seems fair and is a great nod to the value increases over time theory. (Investment) In product development you make compromises to bring it to market, but as you reduce the compromises over time it does indeed become a greater value product. I'm sure it gives marketers headaches to think about products this way, but it does give incentive for people to buy now and be grandfathered into a sweet price as the value of the product goes up.

I know specializing usually means quality over quantity but as you have demonstrated here, this unit does many things very well indeed! I like that the "deluge" part is referenced from a Crowded House song (Don't Dream It's Over); one of my favourite bands from my early teenage years...in fact I liked Split Enz before them.

Jeremy - dude I've been saving for an OP-1 for the better part of a year, I've finally got enough and was going to be ordering it this month but this video got me looking pretty hard at the Deluge now... It looks to be a lot more functional and for slightly less money. I already have a Circuit (also thanks to your videos) and really enjoy it, I create on it almost every day, and the Deluge looks like a "Super Circuit" which seems really awesome to me. Can you recommend one of the other before I end up with some serious buyer's remorse and/or gadget envy?
@RedMeansRecording
@RedMeansRecording 6 жыл бұрын
It's a hard choice. They both have their uses. The main thing the op-1 has is that you can fully render a song to aiff files with individual tracks. You can't do that with the Deluge. Yet. I honestly am kinda more excited about the deluge than the op-1 right now as a tool.
@canispeaktodave
@canispeaktodave 6 жыл бұрын
bca5251 I have both. I prefer the deluge but the op-1 is way more portable. Though I am crap at playing live so if I could only have one it would be the deluge hands down.

Way more portable in what sense? Deluge seems pretty portable to me
@canispeaktodave
@canispeaktodave 6 жыл бұрын
dairylandbogurt the op-1 is very small. The deluge is the size of a laptop. While it is portable, I'm not going to taking it on a plane or a train journey. The op-1 lends itself to everyday accessory that the deluge doesn't. Still prefer the deluge though, just not out of the house.
@bca5251
@bca5251 6 жыл бұрын
Maaannnnnn, hard decision. I've been so hyped about the OP-1 for so long. I am well aware of some of its big limitations as well, with the four track/six minute recording, only one project at a time right? I definitely like how small it is and want something I'd want to take everywhere. I take the Circuit everywhere now but it's pushing the limits of what I feel comfortably carrying all over the place. The size of the OP-1 is VERY appealing. I LOVE the Circuit immensely and the Deluge looks to be a much improved take on that type of device and looks very capable and fun. Would it be incorrect to say the OP-1 looks to have more varied sound capability with its different built in synth engines? I am really getting into the sound design aspect lately vs using ready-made patches or samples. The Circuit has been fun with the isotonik editor but I would love more variety in the types of with sounds I can create. It seems the Deluge is similar to the Circuit with it's one synth engine, just without the need for a laptop and editor software to design your own patches. I think I'm going to go OP-1 for now and start saving for the Deluge, maybe sell the Circuit at some point to put towards it since so much of what the Circuit does is there with the Deluge as well. Maybe I've just seen too many awesome OP-1 videos to change my mind now... LOL Thank you all for your input!

Hey maybe you know the issue I’m having with clip/midi view and how to fix it- Everything works great when I play my external synths with an arturia keyboard going midi in to deluge and midi thru from deluge to Peak and other gear (the Arturia keyboard is going into deluge so I can control the deluge and other external instruments). So deluge records the notes I trigger from the arturia just fine if I’m in clip/synth view but it just doesn’t record the notes when I’m in a midi clip - the Peak has to be triggered from the deluge pads directly - even though the external synth is being triggered by the arturia while I’m recording. Deluge is not receiving the note massages from the arturia. Hmmm?

I'm afraid by what I hear in your video, like, sometimes it sounds like it got CPU overuse and it starts to krrrrr if you know what i mean. Does it come out of the machine ? Is it because you manipulate sounds ? Is the CPU strong enough or does it krrrrr everytime you move some knobs? Or was that just a sound from your stream ?

It's reassuring to see Jeremy voicing the same difficulties that I have with the Deluge, particularly about the lack of a screen and a resulting tendency to get a bit lost in the interface. This is an amazing device, but it seems like it badly needs a screen and more than two parameters per page. Give it 8-10 knobs and a small graphical display like an Elektron device, and it'd probably be a lot easier to learn and use. Even a common 20x4 character-based LCD would help quite a bit.

@@RedMeansRecording Good to know. Is there any sort of routing of external synths through the deluge that you do? I guess I could just record a sample from an external synth. But I think you can do real time processing as well? I have to watch the rest of your Deluge videos. Haven’t had a chance.

Thanks for the video. Can you stack up voices to use up polyphony in a kind on multi mode? My favourite thing on samplers and ROMplers is stacking layers of samples with their own filters and envelopes. Thanks!
