I was riding terrain similar to this terrain throughout the past winter (2023-24) in Utah (Moab and Hurricane) and Arizona (Sedona). Starting to realize I'm a better mountain biker than I thought I was considering I was riding a custom-built 26" hardtail singlespeed. This is the Way

Just FYI, the mountains you pointed out are not a part of the Rocky Mountains. They are an independent mountain range in central New Mexico to the east of Albuquerque, called, Sandia mountains. It includes the Sandia mountain range and the Manzano mountains. 🤘🏽

Something else to keep in mind for this system. It’s very remote and a good idea to ride with a buddy there if any emergencies arise. Access is extremely limited for emergency vehicles. Helicopter would be your lifeline if something were to go wrong.

I can understand why you might guess that the CCW loop including the Stairway to Hell climb and the Chunk Suey descent were originally moto trials trails, but no. While the rest of the Red Mesa trails started out as moto trials routes, that loop was put in by a few ABQ area mtb'ers a few years ago. They did a damn fine job and it's nice to have access to such chunky goodness! It's all rideable, but tough! Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comment, I didn't know that the rest was built for MTBing. I do wish they had left a white line towards the top as its hard to find the line without Trailforks app. Many of the trails in AZ or Utah like that have a white line along the way. But maybe its native land and they don't want it having that on the trail.

The scenerey is out of this world (queue theme for The Good Bad and Ugly). Hard to even spot the trail not surprised you lost it. Choose your own adventure.

You keep getting further south but haven't made it to the Albuquerque area yet. Would love to show you around. I can think of 5 or 6 good rides I think you would like within a 1/2 hour or so drive, including two on the edge of town in the Sandia mountain Foothills.

👍 Nice, We’ve broken many parts and frames in that system so always be prepared for anything. Trailforks is the best for NM. Mtb project is unfortunately substandard.
@travelthenarrowtrail86609 ай бұрын
Agree, I think MTB Project just fell off and REI never puts any effort into it. I have the paid version of trailforks.

Hey bro! Think I met you at Glorietta today? We told you how muddy and a bust it was. Lol. Been to White Ridge a lot, thought about going here. I love climbing chunk and finding lines. Is the Trail entrance hard to find? I heard some people saying the entrance was gated or something but I have no clue. Cheers man!
@travelthenarrowtrail8660 Жыл бұрын
Yup, that was me. If your talking Red Mesa, no its easy to find. There is a parking lot and the entrance is right at the parking spot. You can find it on trailforks or mtb project. Cheers...

@@travelthenarrowtrail8660 Thanks. How much memory do you need? and how do you get that clarity? Mine has lots of pixilation so please advise.
@travelthenarrowtrail86602 ай бұрын
@@millerman692 Memory depends on how much you will be filming and how long. It's probably best to get a card that is larger than you need. It helps to always have more space. As far as the clarity. It depends on what camera you are using and the settings you have on it. Are you filming in the day or cloudy days. I would recommend looking up some YT videos on camera settings for your camera. It would be too long to do here. Also, what software are you rendering the footage with. What setting on the software are you using, for example are you rendering in 1080 or in 4k? Look for some videos, there's many. Find some that are using your software and your particular camera. Hope this helps.

This looks like a broken collar bone waiting to happen for anybody possessing anything less than advanced MTB/trials riding skills. Think cycle cross clipped in rock hopping artisans with the skill and grace of a mountain goat.
