Dunno about exact Vista Vision measurements but Full frame (36mm*24mm) has an area of 864 sq.mm. This sensor seems roughly 884.7 sq.mm and thus definitely larger.

Thanks for the info Rifat Masud!! This sensor is 40.96mm x 21.60mm...so it’s wider, but shorter?? This is why I get confused if it is considered full frame or something in its own class.

Jersey Filmmaker You're welcome. And yeah its clearly shorter and thus wide, more suited towards cinema. Full frame on the other hand works better for photography IMO.

Wow, that's expensive. I feel that cinema cameras are this expensive only because well the companies now that big budget Hollywood studios and filmmakers will pay if they want the best of the best out there. Do you honestly think it cost any where near $80,000 to make a box with wires and plastic in it that records 8K resolution. Even with labor etc, the markup is still probably so tremendous. I'd love to really know just how much it costs to make each unit.

Zeiss OTUS are the best on a budget. Basically the same glass as Master Primes, but cover the larger sensor size

Andrew Williams. The Alexa 65 is one of the few sensors that are bigger than the VV. And significantly bigger too. VV = 40.96x21.60mm. A65 = 55.12x25.58mm

finding lenses for a 55mm wide sensor is way more difficult.

and largest aparature is T4 which gets you a very shallow depth of field, which results in more lightning.
