Red motor upgrade for Henglong Abram's Tank

Replacing the 380 drive motors for the 390s, which are slightly longer than the 380.
Hoping this will improve the tanks performance on grass.
There is limited voice commentary on this video (thank god I hear you say) Some fool (me) did not notice the camera was in slow motion mode, I had to record some dialog on my phone and import it into the video (lesson to self check camera mode) I tried to sync it best I can.

There are new gearboxes out there who can accommodate 540 motors easily, much better suited for tanks this size 380 and 390 are good to up 5kg, after that it's either 480 or 540

@HappyLittleSquirrel I have them in my KT, they fit perfectly provided you have a Modelspiegel/ETO gearbox, and it weighs over 10 kg Definitely standard gearboxes with 380 or even 480 don't push it on dirt and grass Also your choice of electronics is crucial

More speed is needed for those hill climb's, I see there is a lot of gears in side the tank, I noticed the voice and you pointing at things with no voice over, then read the description after I viewed, but it's all a learning curb when you first start out, but if I had a tank I could now replace the motors viewing this...

Hi John, it also needs more power for turning on grass. There is a lot of gears in them needs that torque. I know I really do apologise for the the sound and video sync, very stupid mistake but it will not happen again.

Great video. I'm just getting into tanks myself. I have some questions regarding those red motors. How much RPM and KV are they rated for? As compared to the blue motors? I noticed they are brush motors? Is it possible to upgrade the motors on the tank to brushless motors? I'm into hobby-grade RC cars, and I know a lot about that side of the RC hobby, but when it comes to RC tanks, I know next to nothing. I'm thinking of buying either, a 1:16 Torro German Panther Ausf G RC Tank 2.4GHz Airsoft Metal Edition PRO, or Henglong 1/16 Customized 3888A King Tiger 7.0 RC Tank Metal Wheels Barrel Recoil. I cannot decide? What is the best gear ratio and motor combination to have on these tanks, in your opinion? I am looking for a combination of speed, with plenty of torque. From my experience with RC cars, I would go with a lower KV motor and a high teeth count pinion gear, with a lower teeth spur gear. Is that possible with those tank gearboxes? sorry for the long paragraph. Thank you for your input.

Hello, there is very little information regarding these motors as to KV/RPM. They are designed for when the tank has been upgraded to metal tracks wheels etc.. however, they do have more torque than the blue motors. In answer to your question regarding upgrading to brushless that could be expensive as I don't think the stock radio gear supports brushless motors. Gear ratios are pretty much a done deal on the stock tanks that is already worked out for you when you get the tank. That would be the first thing to upgrade is the gearbox though For more detailed information I would join a tank forum such as www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/index.

if you were to respond to this it would be much appreciated because I tried removing the gear box only problem is there is a whole plastic cover blocking it all. I was wondering if that was normal. I also am not sure how to remove the motor wires from the main board or can you not?

@@joshualasut3849 Hi Josh, I don't recall having a plastic cover over mine so yours maybe a version 7. I would say just look for the screws which hold the plastic cover and remove it.

Hi, If the version 7 has the same stock motors then in my opinion yes. The procedure maybe slightly different to the version 6.
