I don't know exactly how film distribution works, but I doubt that Netflix has a lot to do with the making of the movie. What I believe happened was that the Rawson Thurber (writer, director) was shopping his script around and Netflix just overbid every other company for the distribution of it, probably because of the big names. I'm not sure, but I think Netflix gives a lot of creators pretty much the freedom to do whatever they want. That can result in great content, but also... Red Notice.

Gal gadot is obviously gonna be waiting for them with some smug tease line. Wow, big surprise. Another example: after all of those adventures they finally made it to the nazi storage. We get the right amount of emotion/sarcasm/humor from him and his character because they are so similar that they mesh together and are more believable. Hope this makes sense.

This movie also serves as a case study on how not to do a good plot twist. When a twist is done well, you think back to all the moments where it was subtly hinted at but you didn't notice at the time, or you feel happy how you knew this was going to happen because you did catch the hints. With Red Notice, though, all it made me do is see how it doesn't make any sense. For example, they show the scene where Gal Gadot steals the egg from the back of the truck again, but it plays out completely differently to how it was shown back when it happened in the movie. If, in the original scene, we hadn't seen The Rock looking for and not finding a hiding Bishop, this would work, but we have, so not only was there no setup at that point, there was a direct contradiction to the twist. Another example is the escape from the prison. Why would the guards be shooting at them if they're supposed to escape, especially with a missile, that they only avoid in a super risky way that the Bishops couldn't even have planned ahead because Ryan Reynolds' character came up with it? And so on and so forth. If a twist leaves you feeling like the movie didn't cleverly deceive you, but actually lied to you and made up random bullshit just so it can say "haha, plot wist!", it is not a good twist.

I think that Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot have fallen into the "blockbuster" phases of their careers, namely where they take roles that "play it safe." Even Tom Cruise, Leo DiCaprio and Gary Oldman had this phase. Maybe, one day soon, The Rock, Deadpool and Wonder Woman will start taking chances on more serious films or something award-worthy, but there's nothing wrong with big paychecks. The vast majority of actors would do awful things for those paychecks. Might as well keep taking them while you can.

Oh, I hope they never will - Ryan Reynolds has attempted a couple serious movies and they all flopped - you want him to be the king of one liners. Those three are also too big already to even care about an award. Sure, at some point they might make a movie to get the Oscar but they are too young for that. Maybe in their 60ies. Gal Gadot literally just started her career with Wonder Woman, before she only had a smaller role in The Fast & Furious.

I liked the movie, don't know about love but I'd watch it again and honestly don't have a bunch of problems with it like everyone else seems too. So I'd say, as long as those 3 unknowns were good actors I'd like it almost the same. Like the 2017 power rangers movie, didn't know any of the actors beforehand but thought they all did a great job and look forward to seeing more of their work.
@jeremiahbell61292 жыл бұрын
I liked the movie, but I realize full-well that this movie is because all 3 actors got to play to their strengths, and do nothing else. For what it's worth, the same question could be made to this video: how many people would watch it if it was made by a complete unknown, rather than Filmento?
@jeanlouis18982 жыл бұрын
But isn’t that the point of star power? That’s why well known actors get the big bucks, because very few ppl can carry a movie…
@burnettaj41562 жыл бұрын
@@jeremiahbell6129 Is right. Besides that logic could be applied to any movie I feel like. Would Forrest Gump be as good as it was without Tom Hanks? Would The Godfather be as great without Marlon Brando? Silence of the Lambs and Anthony Hopkins? I think the actors should elevate the script and bring it to life, regardless of whether the script is a good one or a bad one. It’s a sort of synergy. And for what it’s worth, I saw the trailer and knew exactly what kind of movie it was going to be: stupid, unrealistic, fun ran by these three stars and set my expectations to that. Because of that, I had a lot of fun with this movie. It’s a total ‘Amusement Park’ movie, but an amusement park I wouldn’t mind visiting again.

Red Notice isn't bad... For 30 minutes after watching it. Now it's just there. I like the chemistry of the actors, and I like how it's so cliche and predictable that it uses tropes to be enjoyable, but that's about it Other than superficial enjoyment, this movie just.. exists. The moviest movie to ever movie, as one guy said it All that I remember in this movie is how glamorous the advertising is. @autolosss2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes the SM MOA globe, which wasn't actually moved from its original place (I think the video showing that was CGI as well?) from what I remember. Tbh Red Notice felt like an empty movie. You're in it purely for the Rock, Reynolds and Gadot's interactions and if that alone doesn't hook you in then definitely skip. I know it didn't do much for me even as a guilty pleasure - Free Guy oddly enough was a guilty pleasure though and felt a bit more funny with Comer for at least one time viewing (despite writer Zak Penn showing he's out of touch with actual gamers).

I haven't seen the movie, but it's totally possible to show a fake life/lie the character is supposedly trying to get to...just show a photo of something he is saying he desires...a cute kid, a pretty wife, a tropical island, a loyal labrador with his head on a slipper...then later, it can be revealed he stole the photo or it came with a frame or it's a stock photo or whatever. Or give a flashback/dream sequence as he describes this life he longs for...later reveal it was made up. Or even just show a scene that makes it *seem* like the character has a certain life but it was just coincidence and appeared that way to the audience but wasn't so.

What I hated the most about Red Notice was the plot twist: they didn't put a single clue into the whole movie that that thing could happen, they simply put all them retroactively after the plot twist.

What about The Rock literally saying "I am the bad guy" at the beginning of the movie?
@burnettaj41562 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a dumb twist, but it made me laugh so I don’t mind it. I also didn’t care enough to go back through the movie and wonder if it made sense since writers obviously didn’t

At some point in the middle I actually thought that this twist is the only way this movie can end, so it wasn't really surprising to me when it happened - might be bc I watch to many bad movies, it just gets predictable

I enjoyed the movie at a basic level.

@@dylana.9057 tf you think it means?

It's like enjoying it a high level, only lower...

@@TomEyeTheSFMguy I don't know you tell me . Basic level ? You mean like a 5/10 type of enjoyment ? It's the first time I've seen someone describe their enjoyment of something in such fashion 💀

@@dylana.9057 My interpretation is that it just tickled his most baseline needs. Hot women, hot men, dumb fun, explosions or something. You know? Like going for your favorite snack after a bad day, it didn't make you feel anything better but it sure as hell didn't make you feel worse.

When I watched this movie it was so by the numbers I assumed it was a parody and I still believe that was the intent now, but I still don’t see this movie as a good parody because all it does is point out the tropes it doesn’t do anything with them.

I honestly really enjoyed Red Notice, the ending in particular took me by surprise mainly due to the twist (despite its stupidity) was fun.

@Brandon Knight Making a comment in which you state nothing other than calling another person an NPC for liking a movie is peak irony.
@saulgallagher56682 жыл бұрын
@Brandon Knight sounds like you got offended too, or does just replying with "NPC" provide something??
@everythingisawesome29032 жыл бұрын
@Brandon Knight That's ironic. Considering you were so quick to throw the word 'NPC' at him, do you NPCs just have a special keyboard with a set number of words you use? We all know who's taking it personally here, knowing how you simply got offended by this guy mentioning he liked the movie.

@Brandon Knight I like how rebuttals are apparently called being offended. Gotta love those people with their sonic pfp and skewed philosophy
