This video, it's an RV travel day to Red River New Mexico. This is a small town located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. So it makes getting internet in the RV difficult, boondocking with Starlink is mandatory.
Starlink for RVs is perfect in this location, well actually it's the only internet that works. Red River New Mexico has a ski resort so the mountains are quite high in the area. We are lucky enough to place Starlink in an open field and get great service for video calls and streaming.
We also take this time to explore Red River New Mexico this town is small but beautiful and has a lot of great shops. We stop in at Steam Coffee and go to Red River Brewery for lunch. Later in the week when it's time to pack up the RV Melissa wants to learn so, we take the time to go through this process. RVing with a baby always makes everything a little more difficult, but we get it done.

You guys have gotten great at handling adversity on the road. At least the Jeep waited its turn to break down til the truck was fixed.

That was our thought exactly lol if these so called professionals would do their jobs correctly the jeep really wouldn't have had that many issues lol Tcase and transmission were completely "rebuilt" hahah oh well

I’m going to direct 6 of my friends to this video. I’m a 61 y/o woman who is a solo camper and I’m tired of explaining to them that you don’t want the first time you do all this to be when “the man” can’t do it, for whatever reason. Maybe they’ll listen if they see you do it. I can’t even convince them they should know how to drive their rig. Ugh! I get so tired of women being scared. Gender isn’t a factor when it comes to towing, practice is. Great video and Cub is so damn cute!!!!

You are 100% correct. Anyone can do it. All it takes is practice and a good teacher.

Crossed chains are not only a good safety idea, it's is the law in many states. Properly done(Tensioned) it will catch the tongue and prevent it from digging into the pavement. It will also help keep the trailer straighter and reduce swinging around until stopped. Not having your chains crossed can result in a ticket. Like flying, having a Check List is an important part of your safety tools. I also always do a walk-around at every stop which includes feeling the wheels/brake/bearing area for heat. Always carry a torque wrench to check Lug Nuts for proper torque. Losing a wheel(Lug Nuts) or a spindle(Bearings) can ruin your day. I always carry a short(2-1/2-ft of 3/8" cable and three cable clamps to raise and hold an axle up level with the other axle so I can tow after losing a bearing, wheel/Lugs/ or tire. You can usually tow with only three wheels/tires in contact with the ground, but you can't drag the hub so it needs to be raised and secured. Do your proper maintenance and safety checks and you will never have to use the cable, but you might, as I have, find someone else on the road who needs it. I'm a firm believer in having trailer towing training and a License endorsement to be allowed to tow a trailer, and max speed limit of 55-mph like in California. I determined this after seeing many trailer towing incidents and deaths. The first one was in Eastern Washington in the 70's where a travel trailer and station wagon in front of me left the road and rolled into a wheat field killing the parents and 3 children. I was the first on the scene. Something you never forget. The first State Patrol officer on the scene threw up seeing the mangled bodies. Only the driver wasn't thrown from the car. The trailer appeared to have come off its hitch and swerved violently pulling the back of the car around until it left the road and rolled down the embankment several times out into the field. A tragic end or beginning of a vacation.

With the flat bed, a nice toy hauler with a huge can am inside would be awesome for you. Then you could get scrap value for that old outdated jeep. Youll keep repairing it, so consider the investment.

Ahhhh, idk if we want to switch rigs again. Plus a can am, new trailer and a new truck sound very expensive.

It actually is federal law 393.71 to cross chains on trailers but it also helps catch trailers if they come on hooked Loved the video

When the chains are attached to the trailer at a single point like most modern TT's, crossing the chains does not really do anything. TBH it's actually harder on the mounting point as crossing the chains puts a leveraging force on the mount and links if they are actually put to use in the event of decoupling. Crossing should be applied to trailers where the safety chains are independently mounted to the tongue.

To each their own but I'm a serious minimalist, I pull a Micro Mini Max behind a Bronco Raptor, it's like 20ft. I could never imagine being limited or constricted to hauling a house on wheels like that. I could see myself sitting in something that big and thinking.....what's the point in me even leaving the house lol

A 30' TT is actually pretty small in the fulltime world. Most fulltime families are 40+ feet. We've been living this way for 5 years, we are fairly minimal.

Sorry to say this, but it’s time. You ever hear of the phrase “money pit”? There comes a time when it’s simply not smart to continue throwing away good money into something that lets you down time and time again. You say to yourself “but we put so much time and money into it, maybe this next fix will finally be the end of it”, but do you really believe that? It’s probably time to say “goodbye jeep”. I know, it’s nice for the two of you to spend time apart driving in separate vehicles, but sometimes whether want to or not, we’re forced to spend time with our spouse! Sorry dude. Think of all the money you can spend at shops and restaurants and activities!

We talk about this quite a bit. If these shops new how to do their jobs we wouldn't be having this conversation at all. The trans and t case were rebuilt. Time will tell
