Red Rock State Park - "Grand Loop" Hike to Eagle's Nest Overlook | Arizona

Red Rock State Park contains 268 acres of pristine wilderness to explore offering panoramic views of towering red rock monoliths in the distance. In today’s travel guide to this must-see Sedona destination, my father and I will complete a “Grand Loop” of this park (encompassing many of the top hikes). The Bunkhouse Trail commences at the Miller Visitor Center - our starting point for the Red Rock “Grand Loop”. After crossing over the bridge with views of Oak Creek we began the Apache Fire Trail. Apache Fire eventually connects to the Coyote Ridge Trail, followed by Eagle’s Nest (which offers grand vistas of the surrounding landscape). After enjoying the view and tranquility, we began our descent leading us to a riverside stroll known as the “Kisva Trail”. Our combined distances for each trail leads us to 5 miles roundtrip with an elevation gain of 700 feet.
The park was only 30 minutes away from the Village of Oak Creek and easily accessible off of West Highway 89A outside West Sedona. Continue onto “Red Rock Loop Rd” until you reach the parking lot. The entrance fee for adults is $7 and $4 for children ages 7-13. Red Rock State Park is open daily from 8am - 5pm. The Miller Visitor Center at the park includes an interpretive area, movie theater, a gift shop and park maps.
Trails throughout the park wind through dense vegetation filled with juniper along the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and red rock-lined hills. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse habitat abundant with plants and wildlife.
