Loved this movie and I am forever there for anything Sean baker does. I love how he spotlights these people in our country that the typical movies and TV so rarely touch

Enjoyed this film. It showed people and communities that we don't often see in mainstream American films. The director lets you decide for yourself.

It's crazy how so many underrated actors just sorta stumble into these fascinating roles. I mean, obviously to even get to appear in a shitty film, the filmmakers had to have seen something in you. And Simon Rex does have that immediate charm. He was pretty fuckin funny in Scary Movie 3!

Damn. Simon Rex is a damn good actor. Never thought I would ever say that. Was never impressed by his acting before but this film totally changed that.

You dont have to say a negative thing to say a positive one. Just say he's a damn good actor, and leave it at that.

My only real issue with this movie is that Baker seems to be Peter Jacksoning his way towards the ending. This thing ends like 3 or 4 times, and the final choice of ending just isn't as good as the one before.

Just watched this. Loved it. Loved the overall direction and tone. I was expecting a bigger climax or a half hour of some insanity but was ultimately ok with how it ended. I mean it would have been nice to end in a Tarantino style blowout or something, but it wasn’t that kind of movie in the end. Now i have to watch his other movies. Still didn’t see The Florida Project. This reminded me so much of American Honey. Which was absolutely incredible.
@guidodates34242 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the movie would be ruined if the end was like a tarantino film. It´s like he doesnt know how to end a movie without a blowout full of violence. Stories can end in a tranquil way and impact the viewers without having to use violence and explotions as your only tool.

I love this film and your review. You two are awesome as always. While they are different, Simon Rex's performance reminds me of Eric Roberts' performance in Star 80.

I liked the concept of this movie. A retired AE actor trying to reconcile with his wife. Looking forward to this one.

Well this is good idea but there is surprising lack of energy in this movie. Now to the credit of the makers this is movie on a very limited budget and lack of any known faces. But for a very long time the movie is just about the characters talking and nothing really happens. At least in a way to make a strong impression. It just lacks the nuance and sharpness to engage you. When your plot is simple, you have to bring some innovation in your style. It just lacks any style. It's probably in the last 20-25 minutes that the plot really gets interesting but the final ending is kind of risk free. It appears that the movie lacked the creativity behind the camera to full utilize its idea. Also as I mentioned the budget is limited so the scenes are not as well structured as to make the best impression. But two performances are great. That of the lead. Simon Rex is superb as the lead and the girl playing Strawberry is also on the top of her game. The rest of support cast is pretty ordinary. There is not much for them to do even if they have screen time. But the two leads definitely are good and the if the movie does well its for them. Their parts together are the best parts of the movie. But as whole Red Rocket neither has the style or the sharpness to full utilize its idea. I give this a 6. Its plays like a typical indie with a very limited narrative range. But for its budget its a effort worth appreciating.

I just watched this, first, I have no idea where Trump entered into this but ok, that never crossed my mind. Sean Baker is a raw and real movie maker and this is his best yet. I also don't know why Alonso focuses so heavily on Mikey being the bad guy, the fact is everyone in the movie is a "bad guy" and is only looking out for themselves, we just follow Mike the most. I liked it alot. 8.2

Just the idea that this kind of person in this kind of place is what gave rise to Trump -- the whole "forgotten man" notion. This film definitely exists there.

I really like the way the Protagonist uses his Big D Energy and acomplished skillset to lift up and improve the lives of all the female characters only to be once again targeted by thier jealousy and destroyed by thier Female dominated little dystopian society. It should be used as a Warning of what Woke Politics will surely bring more of in the future!! Excellent film!!
