Just saw Jeanne Dielman and I see similarities whit the zone of interest . Not the story of course but the same style .

Ah. Liza Koshy, her type of movie. However, escapism or not, there is a hidden challenge in watching the two leads as they happen to be walking ad pillars of vanity surgery. Kidman's face has reached a state that overtly shows they all miss the point to stop with procedures; and Efron, also with his ballooned muscle mass, appearing eagerly gaunt only thanks to bucal fat removal. We would not have the energy to condone that. It's an epidemic.

This movie is not very good and I worked on this movie as an extra and you could tell it was going to be a calamity because the dialogue felt so corny even on set but Nicole Kidman and Joey King were so sweet and nice to me. So meeting them was worth it.

The things that bothered Alonso don't seem like things that would bother me. I watched the trailers with all the downtown NYC chaos and dust and destruction, and I didn't really think about 9/11. (And I lived dowtown NYC when it happened!!) So, I think I'll be fine with that aspect. My one slight hesitation is that I was never all that into this franchise to begin with. The movies have been good, but they haven't knocked me out. I'll probably check this out though. Perfect AMC A-List fodder! Thanks to you both!!

I'm between Christy and Alonso on this one. They kept the tension, but there is nothing new offered here. But probably not worth repeated rewatch.

I enjoyed the first one well enough (7.5), I have yet to see the second but this 3rd has me agreeing with Alonso based off what I have seen but maybe I will be surprised. One thing is for sure, and it is Lupito is beautiful, and her expressive face lends itself well to this.

Was on the fence on this one until your Breakfast All Day entry....am now even more torn. The first one creeped me out royally, the second less so yet still worked, and am also not certain that dust-covered, in dissaray lower Manhattan wouldn't trigger some mighty potent and upsetting memories (lost two friends in the Towers). That said, we do love Ms. N'yongo, and THEN, there’s the cat, and, as we all know, dogs are loyal servants, cats are upper management. Will have to consider. "Pig" ruled, so Mr. Woolf's participation is another plus. Thanks as ever, Christy and Alonso.

The Chiefs Hallmark movie actually started out as a fake trailer the team made last year and posted on their socials before the holidays. It’s the Hallmark Christmas movie version of Machete.

The hell are we talking about, the stakes are lower because the main character is terminally ill?! Ridiculous. If anything, I immediately *loved* the choice, because it makes her sickness and the invasion mirrors of each other - even when a seeming death sentence looms, the nature of the human spirit is to fight, fight, fight on.

I wouldn’t say garbage. It is done very good for what it is = fluffy, escapism, rom com. It is not expected to be Shakespeare or anything Oscar bait. took a bit to get used to Nicole in a more fluffy role as she typically is in more dramatic pieces.

This would have worked so much better if Lupita was in New York to get a special treatment that only one doctor knows how to do. Then have her and that doctor fight to survive and hopefully get somewhere safe where he can do the procedure. Her life should have been in the balance not already canceled.

I definitely disagree with Alonso here. Just because she has a terminal disease, it does not mean she has given up life or that she would not fight to survive or to live another day. And her priorities might be different... such as going to Harlem or to get pizza might have different significance than other people.

Saw this thursday night here and I was mostly bored with this and I think the conceit of a quiet / silence based alien has had its "diminishing returns" and its here. Too many daytime scenes because I guess that alien is out of the bag. Never scary, overly reliant on jump scares and they even repeated the big "assault" scene twice sort of. The second time it happened, all I can think I cant believe they're doing this again. So many jump scares which shows they knew it wasn't scary. Lupita Nyong was excellent though. The movie limped its way to the finale and we didnt need to see the "suicide: scene because it took away from the character. 3/10 for me. The trailer was terrific and had me hyped but the movie itself was kind of weak.

So apparently the first one took place in 2021? At least according to google? It’s weird because the original cane out in 2018. I guess they were projecting it as something in our future at the time? From what I read the first film is set in 2021 so the invasion was in June 2020? Im not a big fan of the franchise, dont think Ive seen any of them from start to finish but I was curious and looked it up so if anyone else has better insight please share?
