A householder over the road from me puts a black rubbish bag - full of his rubbish - in my red bin. Is this 'fly-tipping'? Is it illegal? What can I do to prevent it? There are 'gravity locks' available overseas which lock the bin until it's tipped upside down - if I get one would it be legal for me to install it on my red bin?

As long as they put it in prior to collection and doesn’t cause your bin to be rejected (contamination/overweight) then I wouldn’t worry too much - it’s better there than in a riverbed and it saves emissions by combining two bins into one avoiding a truck stopping twice. If they put in after collection then they’re effectively stealing space that you’ve paid for so you can report it to police if they won’t stop and costs you more in dump fees.

They maybe don't have enough space in their bins
