Yeah, Ronan is the saddest song. Taylor was following Maya Thompson's blog about dealing with her son having cancer and ended up writing a song using many of the quotes Maya used in her posts. She then contacted Maya to tell her she was receiving writing credits and then ask for permission to perform the song on Stand Up To Cancer. The song was made available on iTunes and all proceeds went to the Ronan Thompson Foundation in hopes of helping families affected by childhood cancer. Maya and her family remain some of Taylor's biggest supporters and have had her back through everything.

I loved your reaction! I love seeing current Swifties reacting to this rerecording! So at the 37:16 mark when you say "bonding" over the lyric, "you said you've never met 1 girl who has as many James Taylor records as you"... you might know, but if you don't, Taylor was named after music artist James Taylor, basically a folk singer.

Yeah, on one hand I wanna scream at myself for never listening to Red (back in the day I mean, not just the rerecordings) but on the other hand I'm glad I can share that journey now. I actually didn't know that about connection to James Taylor. Thanks for sharing that info!

Great reaction. I am an OG Taylor fan and I love real swifties who respect her genius and you do. As for Ronan, there is another song Forever Winter coming up has great lyrics too. The only other song is like Ronin is on Lover album. Soon you will get better for her mom. Always gets me.

I've been waiting for this! And it was worth the wait, I loved your reaction to everything. Your thoughts about sad beautiful tragic were new to me, wow I didn't even realize until you said it's like a long overdue post letter. And you're right Taylor has always been incorporating folklore-like storytelling even on her early days. I'd like to add some info for your reaction to the vault tracks. -Babe and Better Man were released songs but sung by other artists, Sugarland and Little Big Town (both country musicians). She gave it to them because she couldn't put it into the original Red without making it so long. -Forever Winter is presumably about Taylor's late friend, Jeff Lang, who passed away at 21.

I'm at the start of your video so i'm excited to see your reaction. You have to react to the original version of Holy Ground be a she sings the original faster than this. And her live performance of Holy Ground at the BBC live lounge radio one. It's so good. my recommendation is to react to the original albums and also react to Taylor's version when it's released because honestly, we, the swifties, don't know when she's release the next re-recording. it's been 5 months since Red (Taylor's Version) came out and Taylor is on radio silence since then, so the gap between each release of a re-record can be a long time. I also say react to the original albums because you'll notice how her vocals have improved.

Ronan is the saddest song she's ever produced..ever, besides Soon U'll Get Better of course. It was recorded live during her performance in Stand Up to Cancer & released as a charity single, available only on itunes. The only other time she performed this is during one of her stops in 1989 Tour when, the Ronan family attended that concert..& in both times, she, herself barely able to sing it..there's photos of her crying like a wreak after that 1st performance.. & when she decided to make Red TV, she asked Maya's (Ronan's mum) permission, to include it in this album.. There's very touching vlog from Maya about Taylor on few occasions.. The vlog called Rockstar Ronan. R.I.P little buddy..u'll be forever remembered in swifties world 🙏🙏🙏

Ah I feel for you Lis, you got blindsided by Ronan. I always skip it. Love the song but I cannot listen to it, its too sad. Obviously it was not in the original Red tracklist, Taylor wrote this charity single after being inspired by Ronan's mother's story. It was released as a charity single for cancer to raise money but obviously with the studio shit show she didn't own this anymore so Taylor asked Maya (Ronan's mother) if she was okay with her re-recording and included it in the new TV Red. Gosh this song sends us too much to re-listen.

Oh wow! I'm glad she asked Maya for permission to rerecord it again. Wouldn't have expected anything else from Taylor though because she's always so respectful. About her Debut album and Speak Now. Her debut album already has "changed" (aka censored) versions of some of her songs like Picture to Burn and Speak Now is 100% going to have the mega rock banger Better Than Revenge (like you I'm a big rock fan) changed or censored. And on Fearless the great rock lite track Forever & Always has less aggressive vocals (she sounds less angry). So I would give those 2 albums a try on their original form because it's not going to be like RED where it's mostly the same with better vocals. PS: I love your videos, you ooze charisma and I really like your view on music.
@Mravenrocks2 жыл бұрын
I also wanted to say, from this album my favorite song is Begin Again. I remember that when the original RED came out I was just coming out of a serious relationship and that song made me sob but also gave me so much hope. I felt weird liking it more than All Too Well but to this day that's my favorite RED song. And your reaction to Ronan was exactly like mine, it's not a song I listen a lot because even knowing it, it can be hard not to cry. I'll say that the part "What if I'm standing in your closet trying to talk to you, and what if I kept the hand-me-downs you won't grow into" is probably one of the best lines Taylor has ever written.

@@lisontherecord and that is the reason why she only sang it in 1 concert, the concert to which Ronan's mom was in the audience. Fun fact: Ronans' Mom is listed as a co-writer of the song (we OG swifties and red era swifties already know this) because much of the lyrics were taken from Maya's (think that is the right name) vlog about Ronan which is where Taylor found the story and this is I believe the moment she became involved with childhood cancer foundations or programs and she started making visits to the hospitals to see the children and young adults. unfortunately not long after was when her mom herself became a cancer patient.
