As someone who has lost a friend to s**cide, the upbeat tempo of Forever Winter actually makes sense to me. It’s like the music captures the persons bright spirit and personality (like my friend) while the lyrics detail the struggle. Could also signify the happy face people often put on who are experiencing hard things. Also, I think the disconnect between the music and the lyrics points to the fact that outside people often think things are going fine when they really aren’t.

48:15 About Forever Winter (TW: suicide): I actually feel that Forever Winter is the perfect "please don't do it song". Ever since I heard it for the first time the music for me felt like someone screaming desperately at someone else. It just didn't feel that it could be about a partner, so when I learned it was because of her friend eveything made sense. The lyrics are kind of obviously telling you that "my voice comes out begging/screaming...forever winter if you go", but the music's right there with them begging/screaming you to "and please don't go". They work perfectly to convey the desperation of when you don't want a loved one to give up on life. At least when I heard it, I could perfectly picture both my best friend and my partner screaming at me to keep on trying to live. I'm a whole of a lot better now, wo no worries, just wanted to kind of give context as to why I think about Forever Winter the way I do. Did someone feel that way or is it just me?

Another crossover you might not have noticed was the lyric in “I bet you think about me“ where she says “when you say, oh my god she’s insane, she wrote a song about me, I bet you think about me” - there’s an interview of Taylor (that I’m pretty sure was from the red era because she had the iconic red lipstick and red top I believe) where she tells says the interviewer something like “he (her ex) was like “you better not write a song about this… and then I wrote a whole album.” That was DEFINITELY a callback to that lyric in that song and I love that.

I’ve always been a fan of Taylor swift…like as far as I can remember… but I’ve only ever really liked her most popular songs and nothing beyond that. Just over a year ago I had heard about red so I decided to listen to the whole album and I did t even really understand the difference between the stolen version and Taylor’s version…so I didn’t care. I just listened to Taylor’s version and that led me on a spiral to be more of a swiftie than you could imagine from someone my age. She also sings "shot in the sark" in Getaway Car, which is NOT about Harry. People forget that lyric parallels aren't actually proof of songs being about a certain person. Taylor uses the same words and phrases in a lot of her songs, who are about different people. Other writers use those same words and phrases (including Harry). It doesn't mean it's in reference to Taylor. Haylors only see the parallels to Harry because they are looking for them and they think it's "proof." I can find parallels in her "Jake" songs and "Harry" songs. Nobody has ever thought any songs on 1989 were about Jake because of those parallels though.
