Leica Sofort Color Instant Film, Polaroid Instant Film 300, Fuji Instax Mini They are exactly the same. All produced by Fuji, it's just different packaging.

is this true??
@GoA72506 жыл бұрын
Why would Leica make their own film? The start up cost would be ridiculous as all films are intellectual property of the manufacturer so Leica would have to formulate their own.. What you see, most likely, is just two different batches. I have had two packs of Instax used on the same day within two hours and you would think one was shot with a different settings if it wasn't shot using an instaback on a DianaF+... f16 @ 1/60th shutter, can't be changed. The camera is also (more than leicaly) made by Fuji, just minor aesthetic changes like the Pentax and Samsung DSLR's.... You pay for the Leica dot, simple.

I can't see all the video because my connection is so slow right now, but I want to know if leica's film has the same problem of the dark spots with sun and reflection pictures as the instax film?
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Strella Marr Yes Strella, unfortunately.
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Strella Marr, I guess depending on which camera you use, I haven't seen a reflection photo yet. But dark spot of sun or any ultra bright subject still has he dark spot, which I think how the obstacles reacts.. which one of the biggest drawback. But using instead printer has no problem so it's how it reacts to bright light exposure.

More interested to see sofort vs neo or the new Fuji sq10 which is priced similar to sofort . So I know which to get
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Shin for watching our video! We can certainly do a Sofort vs Neo but the new Fuji SQ10 isn't really an instant camera, despite the misleading title. It's a digital camera with a built-in instax printer. The image is captured via digital sensor and then processed internally and prints it out. So technically, I wouldn't call it instant camera (though you can print it out as soon as the image is captured to make you feel like you are using an instant camera.
@hsienfromspace7 жыл бұрын
how bout the sofort vs the mini 90/neo classic? cant decide which to get. Sofort is priced so close to the SQ10 which makes things harder since sq10 is like helping u not to waste films and can print as many times as you want. I still look forward to mini 90 vs sofort though......

Damn, the more I see it, the more I want that light blue Leica but I really *don't* need to add instant cameras to my collection haha! Do you have the Mint tl70? I'd love to try that one too.
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks, yeah, many asked about the mint (light blue) Sofort :) It's the second most popular colour beside the orange. The white was the least popular apparently. I haven't tried the MINT TL70 but I would love to try that as it looks something else but also much larger and heavier, more to the size of the actual TLR 120 camera! May be too big for my liking but I've seen the quality from it, just blow you away as you can focus yourself and also control the speed and aperture.

haha. Aint this fun Justin? Thanks for watching our channel by the way! Enjoy shooting with the sofort!

But the leica film's packaging says Fuji... So they are both made by Fuji and they are different?
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Hi Yang, yes, they are both made by Fuji but I wouldn't be surprised that they used slightly different batch of formula. It's common for factory to have multiple samples and formulas during R&D and with Leica's commitment and financial input, I wouldn't be surprised that they have a dedicated production line for it. I have shot lots of packs already and Leica branded ones are definitely warmer. This video shows the identical shot with different colour tones. Though I do my test but no official words from either Leica or Fuji :)
@mavfan17 жыл бұрын
they are exactly the same. there's no different formula, that's just Leica sales talk.
@kennyd31636 жыл бұрын
You cannot perform a test like this using two cameras as there are variables (lens glass spectral transmission and flash tube color). This video would have you believe that Fuji made a new formula for the Leica film while they discontinued each and every peel-apart film when they had the market cornered once Polaroid quit making peel-apart film. Most recently Fuji discontinued FP-100C which was the ONLY remaining peel-apart film; was that done so they could make a very limited amount of Leica film? Please...

How man shots can a roll take? Fuji vs Leica also how is the long term for buying film
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
10 shots per pack for either Fuji and Leica. As far as I know Fuji is of course for a long run as they are the sole owner of Instax film business. Leica does contract them to produce the branded version, and a slight tweaked colours for version. It does cost slightly more than the Fuji equivalent but if you like the Leica colours or the slightly higher contrast black and white, it's worth considering. At this moment in time, I am unsure if Leica will remain in the instant market for the long haul, but you just never know. It's wise to get a few packs while you can.

good review. would like to see a comparison of either instant camera to the iPhone Polaroid Zip Mobile printer. Curious as to which has a better print quality and take better instant pictures. thanks
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peterson for watching our video!! Much appreciated. Well, frankly that Polaroid Zip mobile printer doesn't consider as instant photography as they are mobile printing. Instant Photography is something that come straight out of your camera after exposure. But in terms of quality, Zip printer hasn't impressed me so far in terms of colours rendition. In fact, if you are into mobile printing, you should have a look at Instaxt mobile printer, they are much higher quality and better in my opinion compare to Zip.

Loved the two Sofort Videos! Really helped. Which mode is best for shooting scenery, buildings etc and groups of people. I always seem to keep mine in selfie mode, perhaps it's because it's the top mode. Cheers.
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam! I am glad you find them useful. I started posting Sofort information from my Facebook page even before they became available and I thought it's a good camera and there were lots of questions. Also people were intrigued by the Leica branded films so I made these videos to address most questions asked. By default, the Sofort is in selfie mode anyway because of the distance chosen. You don't really need to change mode to be honest but you need to change the distance to infinity for your type of shoot if you are at least 3m away, this can be done via turning the front wheel and you should see the lens extends and the back screen telling you the distance is now focus to infinity. Alternatively, you can choose a 'mountain' looking symbol for landscape (infinity setting). Mind you though, most instances your Sofort will underexpose if the building or mountain is in shadow when the sky is bright and you need to compensate the exposure by touching the 'sun' symbol to make it brighter (twice will make it darker). Group shots in distance is tricky. Just remember to turn your group to face the sun for better exposure. As they are further away, your flash will not work too well in that case so you may as well turn it off if they are far from camera :)

@chichayk24877 жыл бұрын
which is cheaper?
@Red35Photography7 жыл бұрын
chichayk24 Thanks for watching our video :) Well, Fuji is cheaper but only by a fraction. They do have different tones as seen here. It's not scientific but it's very consistent that they look different, even using the same cameras. Leica is only a about 5-7% more expensive so it's a matter of taste if you like the look from Leica.
@kennyd31636 жыл бұрын
Stop saying they have different "tones" when you didn't eliminate the inherent variables... Did you perform a spectral analysis of each film's developers? I'd guess that'd be a no and without that data you CANNOT say with any certainty that the film stocks are different by any standard other than manufacturing variables, shelf time and how the film was stored prior to receiving it. Were you ever a professional commercial photographer or go to photography school? At school you would have learned that each batch of film can have a slight shift in color, tint and sensitivity. Did you bother to take a color temperature/tint measurement of each cameras flash (I'll assume that's also a no)? It's a good thing you're simply reviewing camera gear vs. working on medicines to cure chronic illnesses as we wouldn't have a polio inoculation if you were the lab's director.

I just recently started using instant film. It's fun. It's simple. It's TANGIBLE, which is my favorite part. If you have a friend with one I'd recommend asking them if you can play with it for a day and see how you like using it. Or... If you don't I'd get the fujifilm instax 9 camera, which is basically a toy but it's only $60 USD. Even though it's a toy it's also a very good camera if you're like me and photography is just a casual hobby. I upgraded to a Lomo'instant Wide camera recently, which is cheaper than Leica but more expensive than Fujifilm's top instant camera.

Hey Milena, thanks for watching. I could almost agree with you but the truth is that I've now shot tons of Fuji Instax and Leica Instax, they are different (by means of colours and tones). The camera body itself, I can agree that Leica may be rebranding Fuji and charge a premium. Though the Sofort also uses different lens when compare to Fuji. The mechanics may be similar but there are differences. I do, however, agree when Leica produces a limited edition Sofort and charges like £500 for an instax, that's outrageous!! ahah It's that red dot! Mind you though, it's sold out already.
