How is the X-M5 in comparison to the Olympus/OM bodies that have IBIS and weather sealing? do you find it to be a problem/limitation to your work that these features are not there or?

The Accessory Port as USB-C connection. That would be very wise. So you not only can have a connected EVF, but also connect other accessories like microphone, headset, charger, display etc. You don't need 3.5 mm connections for microphone or headset. USB-C to 3.5mm cable could be delivered with the camera as done with some phones. I want evolution in connections. And more than one or two USB-C connections. It gives versatility and revolution och hw market. Soon enough phones will have two USB-C connections too, just like computers do. And all the other canera brands will envy that revolution.

They do say in some of the Nikon F2 documentation that you should never leave the shutter cocked overnight because it can affect the accuracy and it's not good to leave the springs under strong tension. Because of this, I tend to leave my shutters uncocked after I shoot. Also, on Copal leaf shutters like the ones on large format cameras and my medium format camera, they tell you to set the shutter speed before cocking or else you can damage the mechanics inside. After a while, I got used to setting the shutter speed and cocking as soon as I saw something interesting so I could be ready to go. Now with digital, I just leave the body on and tap the shutter button to wake it when I see something interesting

I totally agree with Rod about the E-P7. A beautiful and fun little camera! I got my E-P7 in a bundle with a 75mm f1.8 almost for free. I thought it would be fun to test and then sell on! How wrong I was, the little camera won my heart and it is now well used and still here. Cheers!

What do I want in 2025? 1. At least development announcement of GX8/GX9 successor with that 25MP sensor. After I heard about that stupid OM3 rumours I stopped believing OM is interested in producing any decent rangefinder style camera like Pen FII (which would be a bestseller given how many people begged for years for it and how successful fuji is with their 100V) 2. 14mm f1.4 lens. Sigma patented that kind of lens, so it would be relatively easy to produce by Panasonic or OM. It's ridiculous that such a developed system as M4/3 has only one mediocre 28mm FF equiv. lens.

Hi As per normal a slightly off topic comment from me. But I believe you said you are soon off to Japan and will be doing some sightseeing as well as networking at the show. It is about 15+ years since I visited this place but you may find it with a visit. It's the Katori-jingu shrine. It was a bus tour from Narita airport where I was staying for a short stopover . In addition you can see the historical district of Sawara.

Really Jimmy? Nikon doesn't make a 28mm Z mount lens?
@Red35PhotographyКүн бұрын
They do, f2.8 only. I wanted f1.8 for a very specific look.
@jonbarnard7186Күн бұрын
@@Red35Photography I do agree that a 28mm or equivalent is the best street lens. In the old days, you used to walk around with a 28 and a 50, and maybe a 100. That was before zooms took over. Olympus made several iterations of a 50mm 1.8, the silver nose, the black nose, and I think they even made a 50mm 1.4 and a 1.2 if my memory serves me. And I thought the Zuiko 28mm was a nice lens, although I don't think it was 1.8.

39:23 Aperture rings: I have invested in vintage Zuiko lenses. Does an aperture ring change my life? A little. I find that I don't faff around with aperture settings. I set my aperture, ISO and then just use the shower shutter speed to balance my exposure.

If early rumours can be believed, the upcoming launch of the new OM3 is likely to be a non-event, based on the rumored specifications. Along with many others I would like to see a Lumix GX9 mk ii and/or an OM Systems Pen f mkii, but I'm not holding my breath.

Since the two main complaints people have with micro 4/3 are depth of field and high iso noise, I will often use the 'equivalence' between 4/3 and FF. A picture taken with the 20mm/1.4 and a FF camera at 40mm/2.8 will look about the same in terms of field of view, depth of focus, noise, etc. assuming the other settings(shutter and iso) are adjusted to get the same exposure. This is because, in my experience, not only is the DoF similar(20 vs 40mm, etc.), but the noise advantage that FF has over 4/3 tends to be about two stops. So.... if we say we're shooting indoors with available light, and our settings on the OM/Olympus are 20mm, f/1.4, 1/250th sec, iso 800, the FF camera shooting 40mm, f/2.8, 1/250th, iso 3200 would look about the same. Again, important to remember that for the purpose of exposure, f/1.4 = f/1.4, so 2.8 is two stops slower. Unless you can afford to drop your shutter speed, you're making that up with iso, and that means eating up the two stops of noise advantage you had. Another scenario might be group photos in low light, where 35/2.8 on m4/3 might have plenty of depth to get everyone in focus, but the FF might have to shoot at 70/5.6, which again cancels out the advantages of FF. In case anyone reads this, and gets this far down... lol... all that said, if I shot only(or even MOSTLY) people, I'd likely shoot FF. The size/weight advantage doesn't mean enough to me on the shorter focal lengths, and my time with the Canon RF 50/1.2 was hella fun. Since I shoot mostly wildlife, the size/weight saving on long lenses is more than worth it to me, I'll stay with micro 4/3.
@ulvensjeler5494Күн бұрын
good reason to choose 40-150 2.8 over 40-150 f4, not only gain 1 stop of light. mf clutch and fn-button, with the mc 20 its best than 75-300 and 100-400 and lighter

Yes, these Chinese fast lenses for a APSC format are definitely a viable option. Depending on the kind of photography you do. I just bought the Brighten star 35 mm F0 .95, and I love that lens. It’s very sharp and shows nice background blur. I always like to have fast lenses and so far the fastest I had was my 50 f1.2 Nikon lens, but it’s soft wide open with a kind of glow. However, the bright star is sharp wide open and does not have that same glow so these new lenses are certainly showing themselves to be viable options. Thanks for your review and I love my Z FC too, and I already have a Z5 so I will not be getting the ZF it’s too heavy. I find although it certainly has a lot of nice features especially the IBIS. But my Z5 has that so I’m good. Regards Gerry

After thinking about it for a while I decided to keep my M43 system for the next few years at least. I got tempted by lenses like the sigma 500 5.6 and some long semi fast primes in the Nikon lineup, but came to the conclusion that my old trusty PL-100-400 still delivers! To satisfy my need for gear (I plead guilty), I'm building a new line of primes. I got the PL 9mm, 25II and just ordered this 42.5! I'm very curious about my findings. I totally get what you/Red is saying when it comes to the clinical sharpness and how it's often more then you need. Most of the times A picture doesn't have to bring you more than the naked eye can see! I love my 25II wide open.. more then sharp enough and the pictures I get look very much like photos... Up until now my PL's are full of character and I hope this one won't disappoint in this regard. On my 25II I don't feel any need to sharpen the images (I leave the sliders in ACR where they are)... if the 42.5 is much sharper (I know it should be) I can always dial it back a notch... The lens will be delivered in a few days.. Keeping my fingers crossed for nice 'photos'!

Thanks mate. that's why I still love my M43. They have a ton of lenses to choose from and to suit different photograher's tastes (and needs). PL 42.5 is crazy sharp really sharp. Tracey (my video girl) got it and loves it. I have the Oly 45mm 1.2 PRO, which has a different look. We are living in the M43 wonderland!

I’m thinking of getting one of these recorders. I’ve had the dm770 for a while now but it’s glitching a bit now and the headphone jack is faulty so I’m thinking of getting a new one. I was wandering if the lsp5 has voice guidance like the dm770 as I’m totally blind and the guidance on the dm770 was really good but I would also like the bluetooth capability. If you or anyone else out there could tell me I’d much appreciate it! Thanks so much!6:44

Some news also said it is likely to be same old 20MP sensor with some OM1 guts in a new mag-alloy body as a mid-tier model. TBH, if this is the case, I'd say OM system is a total disappointment after most of us have been waiting for what seem ages since their takeover. In this day and age, a minimum of 25MP sensor is considered 'basic' (all other manufacturers lowest model has this MP) and for OM system to strategize on upgrading to a higher MP sensor in their future only on their flagship model is totally backward in winning new crowds. Let's see what happens but this may be the end of MFT for me unfortunately.

I bought EM1X once in launch till now 2025 still going strong and no need a replacement, not failed once in 5 years, with 12-40/2.8, 40-150/2.8 with 1.4x extender, and 12-100/4, and new addition of 12-60/2.8-4 SWD 4/3 with m4/3 adapter, as previous m4/3 bodies loses AF speed with great 4/3 lenses, em1x is first m4/3 bodies making old 4/3 running at fast as it should be. All above lenses balanced great with em1x bigger bodies. The speed and responsiveness is unbelievable in 2019 so I tell myself this bodies have many years to come and finally proven I made the right choice, just more expensive than the late purchasers

I know this is a pipe dream, but if this will be a retro, then it should be branded Olympus. Call me shallow but this is one of the reasons why I haven't upgraded to any OM System body/lens. Keeping and using my EM-5 III indefinitely, which is now a "retro" in it's own right.
