For anyone who tries this with the heavier springs, there is only 1 lash cap on the exhaust spring, the intake side does NOT have a lash cap... Spent like 2 hours tearing everything down looking for it until I finally verified only the exhaust side has one!

A governor increases RPM. The system is specifically designed for times when a small engine experiences a load, because lawn and garden equipment is run at a constant throttle setting.

@maxguida30704 жыл бұрын
Does it come with the torque converter?
@aaronsimone11426 жыл бұрын
hey so ive messed with those torque converters on various trail masters and set up its no that the governor dont work its the fact that even thought you removed the gov the torque converter set up can only spin so many rpms usually with your set up and gear ratios before the drag wont spin any faster compared to a clutch where they just spin to the heavens lol have a lot too do with how much rpm you'll be able to get out of your engine. You can change your rear sprocket to a larger sprocket you'll get more acceleration and more rpms out of the engine but about same top end because your torque set up will spin more rpms with a bigger sproket gear compared to the smaller. i have a 196c with black mamba cam ported head all the goodies 60 tooth rear 8 tooth on the converter and it will only rev to about 5200 or so with me on it But im 350 pounds and the torque converter and this is ungoverned. When i had it to the setup and power levels your at now the rpms would go to about 3600-4200 even with the governor removed. PS i love your videos it got me back into to mini bike i love my trail master going to be putting a electric start and other things and try to get it road legal in Michigan Nothing more fun then poping and holding wheelies when its a 350 pound man on the bike i love the looks lol.

I KNOW IT WAS THE SAME TOP SPEED BUT DID IT GET TO THE TOP SPEED FASTER?? WHAT WAS THE TIMES ON GETTING TO THE TOP SPEED
@Deucealive754 жыл бұрын
What makes you think it should get to top speed faster? Governor removal and 18 lb springs do not add power. Especially when the engine never turns the extra RPM where the extra power may be. In this case the 18 lb springs rob a sliver of power because it takes more power to open a valve with an 18 lb spring than a valve with a 10 lb spring. Their work was a waste of time and I'm sure they learned their lesson. Hopefully the viewers of this video learned from it also. The work they did here would work great with a clutch, but is a waste of time with a torque converter unless you make dramatic gearing changes at the same time or re gear as the next step.

The loud music is painful. Some music for background is ok but who wants to have to listen to loud crap music when they are trying to learn something. Otherwise good informational video. Sad that one has to do so much just to remove a governor. Do they have an option to buy without a governor? Thanks.
@Gräsklipparmarodören6 жыл бұрын
ok, interesting that it doesnt want to rev more.. seems to be gearing up too fast.. tweaking the cvt could be a thing, maybe a little bit lighter weigths to help it maintain a higher rpm. i usually just slap a bigger carb on. most of the time it works great

It needs stronger CVT springs to raise the engagement RPMs. This should be one of the first mods. Only costs $15 or so and makes a world of difference!
