Pretty stout looking Gearbox! Redcat's use of small Bearings continues to be a problem..... Maybe the Aftermarket will step in, and make some metal Trans, TC, and Axle Housings, with larger Bearing Bosses... Carmine 💥 ⛽

Is this something you plan to do a lot with the new year? It's hard to judge your interest in breaking down another companies truck and making how to videos for it because I don't remember seeing videos of you doing the same for the vs410.... But then again that rig is built of crazy quality components and shouldn't need torn apart much aside from preventative maintenance. I guess I'm just wondering if the new year brought new changes for the channel.

The VS4-10 was a Kit, so I did step by step build videos for instructions. I did this same video style for the TRX when it came out. I like this style of video for RTR releases. But only when they are new platforms.
@blakepurdum5 жыл бұрын
@@HarleyDesignsInc well I feel like an idiot then. Sorry. I've been watching what I thought was every video from you for better than a year. And then lots of spuratic videos from your past years. Don't remember seeing any about the vs410 when it was released. Carry on. I'm just a moron. P.s. your stuff is great 👍 keep it coming. I'll keep watching

Is it a possibility to see Incision gear sets for this trans and transfer case in the future? I understand RedCat is stepping out of their comfort zone here, curious if VP/Incision have any interest in “backing them up” a little. With this being a very affordable option in the market with very appetizing features despite its bearing size related downfalls, a $40-60 gear set for the trans and transfer case would seem like an easy buy(to me anyway).
@dennismount56245 жыл бұрын
Not liking the all plastic gears! I understand keeping the cost down but it would have been nice to have metal ones. I know I would have paid more for them. I'm sure they will do good with stock motor but I'm not sure they would last with big power thrown in it.

Was the plastic on the Gen 8 better than the Gen 7 for stripping screws when putting them back in?

Yeah just my opinion and maybe a little harsh,RS10 xt wheel hex pins failed multiple times and so did ring gear pins ( these always disintegrated often, did finally have to make my own, servo didn't make it past living room tryout, but hey after a lot of upgrades and fab work it turned out to be a great little crawler.Well enough ranting,love your channel long time subscriber,keep doing what u do and thx!
@jb31615 жыл бұрын
those pins are made out of harden steel which makes them brittle,i was replacing them all the time,even the ones in the mip driveshafts,i started using piano wire and haven't broken one since..take your dial indicater and all the sizes of pins you break go to the hobby shop or tsc store they sell the wire in 3 ft lengths for a couple bucks.

Do you need more grease in the Transmission or in the diffs or is it ok like it is..nice greetings from Austria my friend

The plastic has an ok amount of grease on it. The portals have ZERO grease and that is definitely needed.

So ill ask you too. Im looming to get my first trail truck but i am having a hard time on all the reviews ie the bad stuff. I wanted the gen 8. tell i found out about the small bearings and weeker portal axil setup. But i dont know. Im coming from old school nitro. Fast made fun. But now its slow. I would like to know what to get to start off with? I relise im going to have to do a steering servo. Im hard on my stuff by the way.
@HarleyDesignsInc5 жыл бұрын
This design just hasn't been proven yet. The axles were tested by some but they had failures of parts that they made changes to in order to fix. However those weren't out that long either for real long term testing. So it's still a question. The TRX4 is a great truck, I personally prefer the Axial RTR's as I don't think portals belong on every RTR. And then ultimately, the Vanquish VS4-10 is my perfect rig.

Pins,pins,pins, does anyone see a frequent component of these tear downs? Yes its pins and as any past owners of the "brand" know you better count"em and measure'm and get some hardened pin stock because you'll soon be replacing them after a few hours run time and they all return to their original form of sintered metal powder.Fool me once, never again I'm done with "toy grade"!
@HarleyDesignsInc5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I've had pins fail in RC's before but honestly haven't driven any Redcat long enough to see a mass pin failure issue. Thats pretty interesting to hear report of.
@richletourneau46285 жыл бұрын
@@HarleyDesignsInc were the pins sintered or did they improve that as well? I have no experience with a Redcat so I am curious.
