Years ago, I remember reading an account from near the end of WW2, that recounted a battle where two or three Jagdtigers took part. In that account, it was noted that the vehicles performed very well in the task of dealing with enemy tanks, but were severely limited in their capabilities about escaping with the battle turned against them. The Jagdtiger crews were typically trained to always keep their heaviest armor to the enemy, thus front toward enemy tanks. However during this engagement, one vehicle turned to run, and was punched right through the side, while the other two were pretty easily flanked and taken out. It was noted that, looking at the German doctrine for using them, that even the German commanders recognized the Jagdtiger's limitations, and felt that where possible they should try to operate at extreme ranges to deal with enemy vehicles from an ambush position. However if such wasn't possible, due to the limitations of the battle, or where it was taking place, then the Jagdtiger should be kept in reserve and out of combat. To put it simply they're not for close combat. Sadly, with War Thunder, the extreme range engagements that they were designed for, isn't possible. That means that the tank doesn't suck, per se... but that it's being forced into a situation it wasn't designed for.

All Tiger II derivatives have a good top speed for what they are, they have good steering as well. They just take a real long time to get up to speed / recover speed lost in turning. That said, the King Diesel has a special place in hell - they put an actually potent engine in that thing, and it accelerates on par with many mediums.

I've actually had a lot of fun with the jagdtiger. It's in my 6.7 lineup and is usually the 2nd thing i bring out, and it's actually worked really well for me, it's armor feels useful, it's surprisingly mobile for what it is, and besides the reload speed it's gun is amazing. I didn't play it much till recently, so im sure it was probably worse before some of the more recent BR changes.

@@caralho5237 Doesnt justify hating on it at every possible situation. I still remember the sub malding and seething about the Leopard 2AV one and a half years ago. OVER THE FUCKING 2AV. And germany, OP at 6.7? Yeah no. Its Average. But the Tiger IIs are... debatable. A really horrible armor layout in the turret and the upper part of it gets penned by something like the IS-2s quite easily (I know that the IS-2 isnt the best itself). The only ones afraid of the Tiger II are 6.3 and below. Which isnt a lot considering 6.7 is almost guaranteed to constantly give you uptiers. Thats why I also wouldnt play that tier in any other Nation. The only good things about germany 6.7 is the LeKpz 41, the Me 262 A-2a (if you have it) and more agile TDs like the Kanonenjagdpanzer or maybe the Jagdpanther if you take them up there. Still, if you consider what the "Protagonist" of germany 6.7 goes up against and what its alternatives in other Nations are... Yeah no. The only heavy that I can think of (feel free to add some if I forgot them) that does worse in that BR is the IS-2 (1944) Although I must agree that 5.0 germany is busted. Absolutely Busted. 5.3 is basically non-existent, 5.7 is almost empty but fun and 6.0 is balanced to be honest.

Not an expert, but currently playin 9.3 Germany, 11.3 URSS, 8.3 USA. Try to be a rat. Understand where most of the enemies will pass, rush there with your speed advantage, shoot them and retreat. If possible just flank them from behind. Leopard 1 isn't a tank to take the "team spearhead" its a flank -> shoot -> retreat

From my experience, the Jagdtiger is all about using youre frontal armour to absorb enemy fire while you place a careful shot to one shot enemies. its not a good brawler or a good sniper, its a great medium range to close range one shot beast

I think the main issue is just that the 128mm's feel incredibly underwhelming and almost glitchy in their pen-angles\overmatching. Also just the absolute kicking in the nuts of any armour meta thanks to the *amazing* balancing the Gaijin does.

I loved the Jagdtiger. It's still the tank I've had the best games in to this day. Massive gun and equally massive amounts of armor is a great combination, though I understand why someone who prefers faster tanks would hate it. I always had a ton of fun going hull-down in a good position and saying, "No, YOU move," to anything that tried to shoot at me.

I must say I like the fact you took the time to acknowledge the fact that even though you don't like the tank because of your playstyle it doesn't mean that people with different playstyle wouldn't. I myself quite like the jagdtiger and other vehicule of it's kind but I can see why the slower paced and more methodical playstyles wouldn't fit everyone, just like I know I don't really like brawly tanks like the sherman. It doesn't mean that the sherman is bad ofc, but since what I enjoy doing more is staying back and trying to hit long range shots it's just not the vehicule for me.

I returned to WT after looong time, when I was around jagtiger was the top dog of the german TD line and I loved it with all my heart. And to be fair I was quite surprised that in the era of all those modern tanks and aircraft and ammo it still can put up a fight, you have to know your limits. The best time I had playing it recently was with my bro using american 7.0 lineup and me providing him with heavy gun support

I personally love the Jadgtiger; it is my second most used tank (one of my favourite tanks to play) after the Tiger II (H) Sla. 16. I really enjoy using it; some don't, but I do. It may be slow (still much faster than the T-95 and Tortoise), but I love sniping with it or tanking shots from the enemy, and the gun is great. Everyone has their own opinion on which tank they like and don't like. I just really enjoy using it, and that makes me happy. :)

Playing this beast a lot, I think it's actually very good when played as it should be. Two problems it has are : when you need to be aggressive or when you play vs US/URSS with CAS like Corsairs, TU2, etc...
