The point of the April fools tests on reddit have all been very good social experiments, changing variables slightly to see what happens. Last years was like r/place but instead users were given more individual power, which surprisingly proved to actually create more chaos than just giving each user a pixel every once in a while. I expect this year is going to be similar but they are going to start changing around another variable.

I love how the large trans pride stripe continued to fight after being enveloped by the void, but eventually was still split in half, then used as a path for the void's roots to expand. The void acts like a parasite that grows and expands, using what it's infecting as fuel to grow. The people running the void were douches, but they knew what they were doing, and if you ask me they meant for it to be a symbol of darkness and infection, and weren't trying to grief at all. The void is one of my favorite parts of r/place because everything else is all bright and happy, but the void only exists to kill and destroy. It reminds me of the Nowhere King from CentuarWorld in a way. It makes me wonder if there was any reason the void did what it did, such as a bunch of people having their art consumed and getting together to get back at those who wronged them. I'm not sure if I'll ever know what caused the void, but it really is a perfect villain for the story of r/place.
