Worked at Nintendo many, many years ago. The Wii had been available for about 2 years, so returns were trickling in. Two Wii's that startled the repair team: 1. Small desiccated gecko stuck in the drive slot. We gave it a burial in a quiet corner of the parking lot. 2. Stock Optical drive replaced with a DVD burner!...it worked, they just wanted a Region change...

I bought a Fire tablet a long time ago that I broke several times. Fortunately, I was able to have it replaced several times (I even got a new model the last time I dropped it near the end of my warranty, SquareTrade has PHENOMENAL service!) There was, however, an interesting stipulation in the ToS: two claims were not covered, which were an Act of God (WTF is that) and...infestation. I was curious how a fully-sealed tablet could be infested, thank you for the clarification.

Bigger issue is that this _actually_ means you have to get tested for rabies. It is often very silent and unnoticeable for years, before suddenly becoming an issue _only when it progressed enough to be incurable._ Horror stories on the internet has taught me that you need to be safe and test if you just finds a bat inside your house, as odds are it bit you without you noticing while asleep. Apparently even possible that it does while you are awake, and all you felt was a random slight pain (the bite marks are apparently very difficult to notice because they are rather feeble and tiny). So yeah. Bat in your shower? Get tested! Just a friendly PSA

That very last one hurts... During COVID, some people had the bright idea to disinfect money by microwaving it. I was working at a bank at the time, and one day, a customer came to the drive-thru and wanted to exchange $7,000 in $20 bills that were all nice and extra crispy! He tried claiming it was smoke damaged from a fire... No sir, you tried microwaving it like a dumb@ss and I had to very painstakingly count out each bill and try piecing together bits and pieces like a puzzle! Best part about all this? HE TOOK IT ALL BACK! 🤬🤬🤬

I mean, it's still legal tender even if it's broken. Replacing broken money (or even ones becoming outdated) with fresh ones is one of the services banks provides, no? Granted, still has to be provable it's not a fragment of a bill someone is trying to duplicate by handing in fragments one at a time. But that can usually be done by it either still being most of the bill, or by having the actual serial-number still legible on the bill (which can then be crossed off in the system as destroyed and replaced). And it sounds like the guy had them still mostly whole, and for the ones not whole still had all pieces and handed to you. What I don't get is why he would then take them back, instead of the whole replacement bills :p
@charlieschuder9976
@charlieschuder9976 9 ай бұрын
@@feha92 There's two instances of serial numbers on the front; if they aren't both present and legible (they have to match), they are no longer considered legal tender. The customer probably destroyed most of the tender and thought, "Oh, this teller's an idiot! I'll just go home and tape these back together and spend them!"

@feha92
@feha92 9 ай бұрын
I honestly suspect that thing is rather something an employee brought in to record being maltreated or whistleblow big issues, tbh. Note the lack of cables, means it is battery powered and has on-board storage. Overall looked a lot like the casing for a RPI too (unsure (actually on second review I retract that, doesn't look like rpi))? Any battery that fits that won't likely survive too long (can be surprisingly long still, but not enough to be a piece of reliable surveillance equipment). Which also means the on/off button is likely meant to be used by whoever sat near it, during meetings they are present at. I really doubt an employer needs to secretly record a meeting they are already present at (rather, if they want to record they can just as well say it is for notary purposes and do so openly). It's also possible it is something entirely different. Like, is that a volume knob on it? If so it's probably more likely their speaker setup.

@@erikarussell1142 Yeah if it is corded it is almost certainly something installed by the employer. 8:10 yes! Those are birds! These ones specifically are common starlings (known as European starling in the US). They are very well known for their extremely coordinated flight! They move in giants flocks that look like black clouds and seem to be controlled by a hive mind of sorts! Don’t worry, it isn’t actually a hive mind that controls their flights! Though we aren’t fully certain how they are this well coordinated the running theory is that they are very conscious of their direct neighbours in flight and adapt any minuscule changes in their patterns. We do know why we do this however. It’s a tactic to disorient birds of prey and make it hard for them to focus on a single bird and pick out a target to hunt.

17:45 Based on the direction of entry and exit (front to back of the car) I'd give this a decent chance of being from a particularly deadly piece of debris off the road too. That shit can get going fast, and if you're going fast to it can be pretty devastating.

oh so THAT is what was happening to my eye when i came up with a SUPER SUPER bad mouse allergy when i was little and me and my mom were living in the woods... -there were mice in the camper we were staying in and OH BOY, i was not allergic before, but THEN, yes i suddenly was, -SO itchy, and it was SO bad, and rubbing my eyes...i looked in the mirror in terror thinking i broke my eye open from all the rubbing... i did not know that the white part of the eye could swell...dear god... i was SO glad that i didn't go blind, i really thought that i busted my eye open, i laid crying for hours, i eventually had to go sleep in the vehicle with a little heater in the winter, -i stayed warm with many blankets and animal furs, and my dog, but it was awful to be allergic to mice, and they still got in the vehicle, -eventually a tree-home was built for me so i could stay warmer and safer, but the mice STILL GOT IN, waaay up there, it didn't matter!.

That one with the coffins reminds me of how my girlfriend lived in a neighborhood with a nearby river and there was an old cemetery next to it and she told me that some years back, they found that there was erosion and that it would be likely that there were graves that got washed away in the near future.

Ok, so the massive pile of plates is because back in the day they used to paint plates with radioactive paint, so they realized this is hazardous and disposed of them.

10:23 bats almost never go walking around like that, if you see a bat on the ground, it probably has rabies, so don't get even close to it without an overkill amount of protection to ensure it can't reach your skin. Rabies pretty much turn them (and many other mammals, like dogs and cats) into zombies that will try to bite anything that move, and they stop flying because they lost the motor coordination to do so. One bite, even if it's just a small scratch, is enough to get the virus into you through their saliva, and while rabies can't zombify humans the way it can those other mammals, it can very easily kill us, and I mean VERY EASILY

Wouldn't it be staying away from the water then (aka any shower)? Or is that just humans? But either way, yes, definitely get tested if you find a bat in your home like that. You very likely won't ever notice if you are infected, until it is too late. As when symptoms appear it has generally reached an incurable state. And you are also very likely not going to have notice if you got bitten, or so I have read. A correction to OP though, rabies is very curable nowadays, if caught early (again, difficult to do since it won't have symptoms at that point). So having it reach your skin is not the end of the world. Just expect that you will want to routinely get checked for a while, or something (I don't actually know how accurate any tests are. maybe a single one directly afterwards suffices? I doubt it though.).
