Nice episode, guys! The CL is SO much better than most people understand, and the 11-23 is spectacular. Thanks for doing what you do!

25:30: Simple and zero cost way to use any kind of circ polarizer on rangefinder lenses without EVF or LiveView: Attach polarizer on lens. Compose the scenery with exposure setting directly in the middle of the viewfinder (dot). Then turn the polarizer that the underexposed arrow shows up in the viewfinder - now the max. polarizing effect is obtained. Potentially adjust exposure setting with aperture/shutter time/ISO. Release shutter. To reduce a bit the polarizing effect, rotate a bit away in either direction from the max. effect. Works every time.

Been enjoying all these videos. Two video topics I think would be fun to see. A tour of the Leica store Miami. Fir us that can’t make it to the store, would be fun to see what it’s like. Also a chat about rare, most desired Leica gear.

Wow I just discovered this episode and it may be the most useful, entertaining one of the lot (they’re all great of course! 😄) Great work guys. Maybe time for a part II? The Leica CL with any small M-mount lens is a total underdog. Been using mine with a Summaron 35mm F2.8 and it feels 👌🏼

Pinch caps -- Vented lens hoods will often accept pinch caps. I have a 12585 that fits some vintage Summicrons. It takes a 52mm pinch cap. Some straight hoods will do the same thing. There is another company besides Op/tech that makes neoprene lens hood socks. I mention this because finding the right size can be tricky and the sizes vary between brands. If one doesn't work, the other might. The protruding buttons on that style of pinch cap could be seen as a feature not a bug by some people. They prevent you from putting the hood on with the cap in place. That could be an issue with older film Ms where you don't have a meter to tell you that you have left the lens cap on. The silly retaining cord tabs on many generic caps can serve the same purpose. Or they can be Xacto-ed off. And the original 21mm Elmarit is E60. Great episode as always!

I love this and all of your videos discussing Leica gear. One thing I would like to see more of is discussion of how each lens you talk about would work with Leica FILM cameras. For example, you speak here of the 135mm lens. It would have been great to see you address how a user of a Leica M-A or Leica MP would make use of that lens. In your future episodes, please make an effort to include information for Leica FILM camera users. Thank you and please keep up the great work!

Thanks for the e60 TL cap fitting on the noct, I love the design, functionality and look of it. I think it’s the most beautiful design out there. I plan on using a round vented von overgaard e60 metal screw on hood, funny nothing of 60mm diameter is available anywhere, even cheap ones, come in China :-), well the von overgaard has a 67mm filter thread up front so if I decide to get that, I will get a pinch type e67 cap

Josh has a nice new 90 mm macro v1 set for sale I think.... he’s being bashful - but it’s a nice set, i know for sure, it was mine for long while. Underdog, underused, under appreciated, sharp as the boys say here, and then some, beautiful macro esp w the Elpro as they’ve shown. Great little lens, I should have used it for portraiture more, it’s awesome!

Informative and entertaining as always. Great, thank you! You put a TL lenscap on a noctilux, which reminded me of the following: why do the TL caps have a bulbous shape and aren’t they just flat? Is this Leica’s way of saying you should put a lens on rear cap and not on its front-cap?
@claudioaspesi12263 жыл бұрын
The live feed takes place too late for watching it in Europe. I would have liked to ask about the X-U, which seems like a major underdog. Leica should figure out a successor - perhaps based on the Q2? There is a major need for a high quality lens you can take anywhere and not have to worry about hitting, submerging, using in driving rain and wind.

I have an M10 and really like the Ettas Pouch but I'm not crazy about the three colors, is there good alternative around the same price point? I'd prefer a blue with black leather or black with red accents would be more my style, obviously some other color schemes would work too. Thanks for the great episode!

Like I have said in previous episodes, current and achievable for sure, just from my point of view as a photographer with allegedly too many toys - M246 + 50mm 0.95 Noct. Beautiful and not talked enough perhaps, just an “old” sleeper favorite that has never, ever, let me down... monochrom goodness - taste the pudding...mmmm

I feel like 90mm in general is an underdog group of lenses; everyone talks 28 and 35, sometimes 50 these days but seems like a lot of ppl don’t like shooting 90, let alone 75.

David, can you handle camera equipment with more care? Especially these are very expensive Leica stuff. The way you handled the 11-23 zoom is likely to put fingerprints on the lens. And that nick on the lens hood of another brand-new lens ...

You talk a lot about APSC TL lenses on SL2. Josh Why not just use a CL or TL2 for a travel camera?
@RedDotForum3 жыл бұрын
David uses the CL with TL lenses as his travel camera. Josh likes the SL2 because of the better EVF and the highly effective sensor-based image stabilization (IBIS).

ISO is absolute overrated. Pics are always taken in "base ISO" of the cam and then calculated to the setting. So it's a matter of CPU!!! You should better use the term ASA. I always shoot the "base ASA" of a cam. The pics are always the best. So a Leica's best ASA is always the "base ASA" i.e. for the M8.2 it's 160 ASA, for the M240 it's 200 ASA! I'm from the age of film shooters. Did great dias with Kodachrome 25 and 64 in Africa with my trusty Canon AV1 with Winder A in 1981 even at night! Pls: Who realy needs 24000 ASA (ISO) ?? To take good pics at night you always need a good tripod... not a high "ISO" ... ... just my 2 cents...
