If you are driving age and have access to a car, try to find a House of Prayer or Assemblies of God, or if you’re interested in something more mainline, you can look for an Evangelical Presbyterian Church. While you can and must honor your parents, and shine the light of Jesus in the apostate places, it is also good to find a place with sound doctrine to call your own. In the meantime, dive deep into the Word of God, pray without ceasing expecting to hear God respond, and to talk with Him and learn from Him. These light afflictions work an eternal weight of glory. The truth is I know I should. I just really struggle to connect with a lot of religious people. I always end up feeling isolated, even in the church where I was raised, wishing for a deeper sense of fellowship that I'm just never able to break through into creating. Worse still, this church's non-denominational theology was so absurdly vague that I'm not even sure where to start in looking for a new one. Your videos have actually been the biggest help I've had so far in contextualizing the theological environment that I grew up in, and at least giving me a starting point for what can still seem at times to be the biggest homework assignment in all of human history.

I left the church not because I wanted to, but because of things I saw in the churches that upset the spirit within me. I have been to a few different denominations but could not stay because of things that were unbiblical. For example I cannot be a Catholic because of idols and the bowing to idols and the blasphemous depictions of Jesus, I left churches because of the initiation of female deacons, I left a Baptists church because of a starbucks in the lobby of the church and the Holy Spirit putting forth the passage of sculpture of Jesus nocking over the tables of money changers when I saw it. Some may see this as nitpicking, but the Holy Spirit is the one pointing out the issues. Im praying for Jesus to lead me to a church that is following the will of the father and not teaching or practicing heresy. I understand the body is made up of imperfect people, but if Christ is the head of the church then I believe he has the power to insure a body of believers is upholding his will that can be a light in darkness and ward against false teachings. Its really Hard being that im in one of the most spiritually corrupted places California and is a place that needs Gods light, but too many Christians are forsaking California and NY to move to more republican places rather than fight for the faith.

All the churches around me looked just like the world during the pandemic, they closed their doors making a non verbal statement that they consider themselves "non essential." They showed they were worldly by obeying man rather than God, they showed their fear of persecution & believed a "virus" was more powerful than God. They said zoom was ok but when it was "safe" to open their doors again, they used Heb. 10:25 & just bypass the elephant in the room. Please help me understand this, I do want to fellowship with other believers.

Try to sea if there is an Orthodoks Prespaterian Church (OPC) near you. That is a very good denomination. If you do not sea anything, sea if you can find a PCA (Prespaterian Church in America), witch is a larger Presbyterian denomination.

I myself have been raised in an ELCA church in Minnesota, not the most traditional building but very much a traditional worship style. My Church isn’t stage 5 progressive Christianity but it’s definitely on the progressive end of Christianity and I’m more conservative myself theologically (especially after this channel sparked my new interest in theology). Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I am getting the impression your definition of "church" is institutional (a government with bylaws and an authoritative/administrative hierarchy) rather than communal. I get this impression because your discussion of church tends to be credal and denominational (i.e., "which church to go to"), and because you speak of the sacraments as something to be administered. I argue the sacraments do not require administration through a governmental/brick-and-mortar church; I am not aware of any Biblical ordinance to that effect. Communion is not described as being distributed by church authorities - all the Bible says is believers were partaking in it. Furthermore, the Passover meal, unlike the other sacrifices (all of which are an ἀνάμνησις according to Hebrews 10:3, I might add) is performed in the home without a priestly officiant, and communion is the full realization of what Passover represented; if Passover may be performed without a church authority, communion may be performed likewise. I'd be interested in seeing evidence of the contrary. Baptism is a little more challenging because of its association with Semikhah (Hebrew: סמיכה), which is the transmission of rabbinic authority, a correlation created through Jesus' baptism by John. But historically and practically, baptisms were performed by any number of believers with no greater credentials than their own baptisms - again, no church government required. So, if the sacraments don't require administration, what does the governmental church do that a group of believing people can't negotiate sufficiently for themselves? I don't disagree with the statement church is essential. I personally think church should be used like a verb (e.g.: geese flock, cows herd, Christians church.) But the description you are providing here is going to artificially restrict what constitutes a proper church without further elaboration, and that issue is a whole lot bigger and hairier than the otherwise uncontroversial assertion Christians should gather and partake in the sacraments. A lot of believers are not neglecting the gathering of the brethren while simultaneously distancing themselves from corrupt, bloated, or errant institutional churches, and I don't think it's just to adjure people to affiliate themselves with those organizations if they are part of a believing community and are practicing what Christ commanded.

I get where you’re coming from. 5 things though. 1) for many of us, myself included, these historic “governmental” churches are essential. We love theology and history, and we worship Christ through the historic and beautiful liturgy of the Church. 2) “Governmental” churches are better able to organize seminaries, stave off heresy, and make sure your group believes rightly. 3) The office of “pastor” is a God-ordained office, see 1 Timothy 3 and other places I imagine. 4) I think there’s an argument to be made that Israel was a type of the Church. Israel was a organized state with judges and later monarchs. So you would expect the church to likewise be “governmental”. 5) The Church has organized itself in this way for a very long time, and I don’t see a great reason to stop doing so. It’s not condemned in the Old Testament. I certainly think the people who organized the church were smarter than you and I. Who are we to contradict them?

Every strand in the web bears weight pressed elsewhere on the web, making the whole structure difficult to break. It is especially important in this era, where we are otherwise stranded from all purifying influence, that we attend church. Most of us would falter and fail within weeks or months of spiritual starvation. Even if we are alone in influencing our church to purity, the fruits of our work refresh us as we toil, such that even in the absence of others to fortify our faith, we still persevere.

I am not Redeemed Zoomer so take any of my advice with that caveat. I think it should also be asked if you are entirely serious about this question as it can be hard to tell through text if you are sincerely seeking Christian advice in this aspect or are just messing around on the internet, as a general rule I assume sincerity but Poe's law is pretty accurate in my opinion. Anyway... Cthulhu is completely fictional, would you feel the same way about a game with references to Morgoth or Sauron? Regardless, if your conscience is telling you not to play I could support that, or a texture pack as a solution to continue playing and avoiding some aspect that is searing your conscience. I personally am more worried about the obsessions and addictions I tend to get about games as games rather than to any references in them to supernatural or supposed demonic elements. But that stems from my own relationship with games and fiction rather than as some general rule or recommendation for my fellow believers. Since you are just an internet stranger it is hard to give good advice to someone where you do not know their situation. I generally recommend that people ask for this kind of Christian advice from their local pastor or a knowledgeable Christian who knows them and the aspects in question. This seems pretty similar to a 1 Corinthians 8 sort of situation, so it can kind of go either way how you handle and it can be better to talk to someone wise, with a good walk with Christ, who knows you and your walk with Christ.

Here’s a question. I’ve been on the fence about church and baptism, and I recently found a small church in my community that seems pretty chill. I’ve been attending some of their online services but I’m having this insane urge to read the Bible before attending anything in person. And this isn’t just some weird craving. I like your academic view on things, but I disagree that Baptism is what makes you a Christian. How would the penitent thief on the cross have been saved? He was saved through faith alone. Baptism is good, but it is not what makes you a Christian. I got baptised like 3 times when I was younger and I didnt believe. I havent been baptized since I DID come to true repentance and faith in Christ. Would I not be saved if I dont get dunked in water by a Christian? Not trying to be argumentative, actually wondering what other's opinions are on this.

I can offer my real world opinion, Jesus said we must be born again in spirit to have eternal life and enter the kingdom. When we believe on the Holy Gospel and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are born again in spirit.. baptism is merely an outward profession of our faith, it cannot save anyone. My real world experience, I was baptized before I was saved and absolutely nothing happened.. But when I ran to Jesus and looked to him alone to save me, I received God's Holy Spirit right then and there and have never been the same.. that was decades ago

You should read the Gospel of John, its written explicitly to non-believers as a explanation of how to be saved, the other gospels are directed to already Christians, John says expressly that "Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book, but these are written so that you may believe in that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name" John 20:30-31. Now beyond that verse explicitly explaining how you are saved (by believing you may have life), John repeats that messages throughout the book (and again in 1st John). We aren't saved by works, baptism included, church attendance included, we are saved by faith. "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved" Romans 10:9-10. I believe references to baptism in terms of theology (like in Romans 6 when Paul references baptism) are the baptism of the Holy Spirit, referred to in Matthew 3:11. And the passage in John 3 that people like to use to say baptism is required I think is just Jesus referencing Ezekiel 36:20-end, and its definitely not clear that he refers to baptism, especially as he says later in that conversation "whoever believes in him [Christ] may have eternal life" and then again later in that chapter "whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life". Notice how he doesn't say "whoever believes in me and goes to church every sunday, and gets baptized shall not perish but have eternal life", but if he wanted to, he could have. Hope this helps :)

I already don't agree with this video just looking at the title, but fine, make your argument. Edit: Okay, now that I've watched the video, I can actually write my argument. So I don't disagree with you on the church is what Yeshua (Jesus) has left behind, but my issues are not the idea of the Church, it's the modern-day church itself. Technically speaking, any amount of people together is considered a congregation/church; the idea of the church system way created so God's home has a look to it and is a lot more organized, but you don't need to go to church to be at church, you just need to be with a group of believers. The only thing you would have to go to an actual church for is to get baptized but everything else you can do alone. Remember, church starts at the home, not the congregation down your street. Now the reason I disagree with you is because American churches are a mess - some churches you have pastors molesting children, some have evil spirits running through them, some have a bad environment (other than be liberal, judgemental church ladies or a somewhat mean pastor), some churches are EXTREMELY liberal, some churches are actually cults (and I don't mean Jehovah's Witness or LDS, I mean churches outside of those heretical denominations), some churches have a lot of racist people in them (that's important to me as a black person), and some churches have pastors that are just bad at their jobs. Not to mention, churches worship on Sunday, and even though I'm not Seventh Day Adventist, I am a Sabbatarian. I can't find a good baptist church in Philly that is not similar to that of a megachurch (I.E not Bethel and not Zion), a lot of the protestant churches are too liberal, I disagree with the Catholics and Orthodox, and I can't go out into the suburbs because I can't drive. So for me, going to church is just out of the question, I'm better of just studying at home. I did find a Methodist church I can start to go to, but even then, I'm not going every week, it would be more like every other week.

We went to a Church where the Archbishop after 10 minutes handed over to his wife the reigns. She announced worship and then proceeded to play a video of a band singing an unknown song. After that they had a renewal of marriage vows of an unusual couple. Then they had people in the congregation telling everyone what they had for sale! The sermon was a short video. I appreciate the need for public Worship but some ' churches' are so far removed from orthodoxy they have become a sad joke! This is in a town where we have a second home. As a Dutch Reformed Church member even there 80 percent of eldership took the jab and in sister congregations, members wore masks, perspex shields and sat behind a perspex screen. I think they were scared of dying! Can you believe that! They also pushed for Vaccine Passes! They submitted to tyranny by closing services or in later times reducing attendance numbers to 12. Thank the Lord for Alastair Begg and the Livestream services. Little old NZ has certainly fell victim to the psyop!

@@redeemedzoomer6053 I never said I was better, I don't think I am at all, everyone goes to church because they have problems and need to be with other believers, but if the church is problematic, how do you expect me as a believer to grow? How am I supposed to grow if the pastor can't do his job? How am I supposed to grow if the people in the congregation are chaotic? How am I supposed to grow if everyone is a heretic? How am I supposed to grow if the church won't accept me into the congregation? Is a church a church of God if no one is doing what they're supposed to? That's not to say everything needs to be perfect; everyone makes mistakes, but if a church is heretical and not being "church-like," then what makes the church better than my house? What makes the church better than the MFL or BSL? What makes the church better than Kensington? If I know a lot of believers and we all come together in true worship and we study together, aren't we a congregation? Isn't the church about the contents within the church and not the church itself? We need to have some kind of standards for the churches we choose, because if we don't, we can accidentally align ourselves with problematic heretics and non-believers; some of us can complete resist their evil ways, but truthfully, a lot of us can't and will just be part of the cult (or whatever they call themselves). I'm just looking for a church where the believer sins (because no one's perfect), are aware of it, and trying to make some sort of effort towards making themselves better - it doesn't matter if they fail at doing it, all that matters is that they're true followers that are trying to make a conscious effort. As for the pastor, I expect them to be a legitimate leader and not let the church be a hostile environment; it's one thing if the people within a church are a bit problematic, but I expect more from a pastor as they're the leader of the congregation. I shouldn't have to feel ashamed or fearful when going to a church, I should feel like a believer - who has problems that need to be fixed - who can walk into the church feeling unafraid and feels like a legitimate part of the congregation. I shouldn't be judged by the elders of the church everytime I do something wrong if I'm trying to do right. I should feel like even if I do something wrong, I can get constructive criticism and I can get helped back up when I fall. I shouldn't feel like I have to stay quiet and just accept the church for what it is. I should feel like a man with a voice to speak freely if I have concerns that should be addressed. I shouldn't feel like because "pastor said so" I need to just listen. I should feel trusted enough to have something explained to me - even if I have troubles understanding something, I can ask God in faith to explain it to me (James 1: 5-6). So far, I haven't really found any churches that did that, and neither did the rest of my family, so we just didn't go and just study alone. If I have legitimate concerns about some of the protestant churches in my area, then why am I the sinner? I never said I wouldn't go to church, I never said church was bad, but if I feel like I don't get anything beneficial from a church like true worship and true theology, then what's the point of going? And don't say it's because the gathering of believers or the church is God's home because I can do that by just getting believers together and a bad church is still a bad church. If it's really meant to be, God will lead me to a church if I ask him to guide me, but until I find a church that is right for, I'm not going; plain and simple.

I would suggest two possible key components (and others are free to jump in and disagree). First, that the Bible says God is with us when two or three are gathered in His Name, suggesting that a mere 2-3 people is all it takes for a particular kind of Christian fellowship where God is present - I would suggest that many people take this as applying to congregating as a church. Second, and this is where some will disagree on the details, is whether the Word and Sacrament are rightly preached and administered. And in that regard, you're going to have differing views on how such a thing can rightly come into being. In summary, it would take only 2-3 people at a minimum, but there will be differences of opinion on whether that Church has valid orders/ordination/etc to preach the Word and administer the Sacraments.

​@@Read-Your-Bible-Bruh The most obvious immediate problems with this claim of yours that you don't have to go to church are: - How are you fulfilling the Biblical command to assemble or gather together (Heb 10:25) - How do you fit all of the New Testament qualifications of being under the rule of overseers (elders) who have authority over your discipline (Heb 13:17) and, indeed, what are any of the verses about church structure and running (deacons, elders/overseers, teachers, etc) for? - How do you justify that almost the entire New Testament is written explicitly to churches (and not just the spiritual concept of 'the church', but specific geographic gatherings) if people are not attending? Please note that trying to get around this by creating some false distinction between an idea of large organised churches in big buildings versus small household fellowships of Christians doesn't work either - because even if you define church as a small household gathering, this is still absolutely a church and absolutely a part of what the New Testament commands.
