@@brutal_slav4257 I want to attribute that to russian soldiers being decent human beings that did not want to commit warcrimes against people they rightly call their brothers and sisters. With the war getting ever more bloody and losses mounting on each side (not to mention the pressure probably put on officers by the Kremlin), we can see this decency erroding very quickly the last couple of days and moving towards what the world is already used to from previous wars like Chechnya. Also to be completelly frank with you, the russian army did not manage to use their long range firepower effectivelly against military targets in the first days of invasion to even knock out military command/logisitcs and airfields. This was not holding back on firepower, this was a complete tactical failure they now try to make up for with becoming ever more violent, maybe even force the rest of the world to react more directly in an attempt to escalate the situation further.

Most of Ukraine’s problems stem from its complete lack of numbers in modern tanks. They have like 150 T-64BM’s which is pretty meh, it’s only real advantage against the B3 in the satnav. I'll tell you a "little secret", in order to disable the tank, it is not necessary to pierce its armor. After one high-explosive projectile, the tank loses all its optics and becomes incapable of combat. + on the side, all modern tanks are poorly protected. Therefore, everything will depend on the tactical situation. In addition, tank duels are more of an exception than a normal situation.
@tomjones28602 жыл бұрын
The video makes the mistake of assuming a Tank vs Tank war. Makes sense since the strategy has always been that the best tool to take out a tank is a better tank. Turns out that is no longer the case. The best tool to take out a tank is a foot soldier with a shoulder mounted Javelin or NLAW with 60 minutes of training. The Russians have demonstrated that a tank without integrated air support and infantry protection is a sitting duck.
@timurlane40042 жыл бұрын
And it seems the Russians realised that. British sniper who served in Ukraine and returned said in a interview that they simply cant use the Javelin and NLAW. @@N0noy1989 Not surprising.Ukraine stands no chance in an open field battle against Russia.As motivatie as they are their MBT are no match for current Russian tanks. Their T-64B is outclassed by tanks like T72B3 not to talk about T90 or T80. Its smart of them to use hit and run tactics on the Russian forces. Also i dont think the Tanks are obsolete now just because Javelins exist they are still a potent weapon on the battlefield perfect for breakthrough operations. What really stopped the Russian military is their own logistics. An army that has its doctrine based on mass assault is no use when their own logistical line gets stuck tens of kilometres away from the lines from the lack of fuel.

It's kinda missing the point, the Ukrainians aren't fighting tank on tank battles, they've opted for an urban setting to take on the Russians, in these circumstances large numbers of tanks aren't particularly useful, they're also extremely vulnerable in this environment. As we've seen its quite easy for the Ukrainians to setup an ambush and destroy an entire column of armoured vehicles just with man portable anti tank weapons. The conflict in Syria should have been a good example for the Russians of what would happen if you try to push tanks through towns and cities when modern anti tank weapons are present.

@Altair8852 жыл бұрын
@@nicholasconder4703 I suspect that they don't really have much in the way of tanks now after the airstrikes, but those that are left will have been deployed in defensive positions, most likely dug in so they're hull down near certain strategic areas. Also worth mentioning. The capability of the equipment is only one factor of the equation. In this conflict it is increasingly looking like Russian equipment is poorly maintained, manned by poorly trained conscripts, and commanded by generals who lack a grasp on good strategy, and are unable to deal with logistics. As Omar Bradley once said, "Amateurs talk about Strategy. Professionals talk about logistics". With stories of T-90's being abandoned after they failed to function in their poorly maintained states, with logistics supply chains unable to properly supply them, and Russian conscripts barely knowing how to use their equipment, I think this comparison is not very useful.

The battle plan is to lob artillery at a target till all resistance is destroyed then send in the poorly trained and equipped infantry to hold the position while the artillery moves up and begins the cycle over.
