I loved Brett & Charles. Remember watching them as a small kid after school in the mid-late '70s. I now get to watch and really appreciate their humor on the reruns thanks to BUZZR TV.

Episode 11 of Match Game was the first appearance of CNR, Brett Somers and Betty White. The energy and comedy levels of the show redoubled with episode 11.

I agree with all the others who've said Brett & Charles, without them match game wouldn't have been as funny or successful! They were the best of friends and ironically enough died within a year of each other...They'll be missed!

Love Brett. That first appearance on the show set the tone for the laid back zany pace for the rest of the run. Her boisterous uninhibited and unapologetic quips is what definitely helped other panelists step up their (Match) Game.

What's sad is when Brett passed away, People Magazine had a very skimpy tribute accented with an unfocussed terrible tiny picture...while Kardashians received covers after covers.

Bret Somers if the spot light was on another celeb. she tried to say/do something to put the focus on her ... Never cared for her .

I never thought that at all. I think she was just a very outgoing person who liked to interact a lot.

I never understood feminists blaming “societal pressure” for women putting their home lives and children first. My mother stayed home with us because she wanted to, and it was absolutely the normal thing to do. There was no pressure. Feminists act like women need an excuse to stay home & raise children, that they need a reason other than they enjoy it, or the fact that it is a huge responsibility to turn out decent kids & women who stay home take that seriously. Jeez. When we were old enough to look after ourselves my mother got a part-time job that turned into a satisfying career for her. She “had it all” as they say, just not all at once. --The only pressure I ever saw put on women & families was monetary. Because of the fiat money system we are enslaved under it became impossible for most households to survive on one salary. So both parents work now and kids are farmed out to daycare centers to be babysat instead of raised. There is a difference. My sister had her first child in 1990 & stayed home with them, they turned out great. Later on she worked at a daycare & she nearly had a nervous breakdown because she could not impart to those kids what she did to her own, & she could tell some of them seriously suffered for it. People now think this is the “normal” way of things--I don’t think there is anything normal about it. Just look at what is happening in the country today (2022). Part of the problem is two generations of people being dumped in daycare, & the mothers turning their attention to their own narcissistic needs. The bigger part of the problem is “feminism”, which for 50 years has made homemakers & mothers feel like they were doing something wrong by being happy.

Wanting a career is not a 'narcissistic need.' Also may I ask if you are a man or a woman? I think it is a very bold thing to say there was no pressure to stay home with your children in the 1970's. lol. my mom felt it even in the 2000's. This sounds so divorced from the lived reality.

l watched Match game a lot back then. Brett was constantly checking the answers of Charles Nelson Reilly and whomever was to her right. lt seemed she would give the same answer as either one of them 99% of the time

Somers was a complete narcissist. She would give stupid answers and didn't give a damn about winning the constants any money. I think that they finally had to end the match game due to paper cost. She had to use three to four cards for answers that she thought was glib. She not only hated female panelist but toward the end she didn't like Richard Dawson. If it wasn't for Klugman getting her on match game, she would have wound up wearing a hair net and ask if you like fries with that.
