Fun fact: H.O.T also had a graduation system but when they released Candy the song became so popular that SM decided to get rid of their graduation system so that’s why this remake is also meaningful for Dream and nctzens. I honestly loved the OG song and this is a great remake, they managed to keep the original vibe yet made it very dream. Also, Jisung mentioned that they might not get a chance to do this kind of bubblegum sound anymore as everyone in Dream are already adults so this might be their last cute concept which is a bit sad cuz I love dream’s youthful sound but I’m also happy they’ll keep doing more mature sounds in the future. Also, I recommend listening to the whole mini album the songs are amazing!

I think Dream should be know a sweet spot between mature and bright since most Dreamzens and korean love the latter one (and bright/youth/growth concept is Dream branding since forever). Sometimes I feel like kpop fans and even some groups generally talking mature concepts are about dark and sexy concept while bright concepts kinda generalized as childish when it is not the case at all. Songs like Hello Future by themselves is a very mature song despite the bright concept while some groups dark concepts (wont saying any names) feels like more childish

it's a old school song from H.O.T 😂 it's more a cover & they also dress like them back in the days. I feel bad for people that did not grew up with kpop, because they don't experience nostalgia the same way. I smile when i find out it's not a new song, but a tribute. 💕

The general public LOVES the typical Dream sound. a lot of NCTzens love it too because their music always seems to have some kind of nostalgia feel. But that's the beauty of the various units. Dream always focuses on brighter concepts that make you feel good, 127 is for the experimental EDM grown sounds, and WayV is good for the sexy hiphop sounds. Although they do a lot of crossover, that's part of the reasoning for the different units. Plus as it was mentioned, it was a remake song. Almost every SM group has a remake song. Also, it wasn't really that the members started crying and were upset he left. Yes the members and the fans were all upset when Mark graduated from Dream, but it was moreso they never really felt like a complete group when he left. He's their unofficial leader, so they felt lost. It was hard for the members who don't have another group to go to. And they were all really worried about their future plans in the company because while Mark and Haechan had 127 to go to when Dream wasn't doing anything, the other members didn't have a clear answer on where they were going and were all really concerned for their futures. Theres video of Jisung being scared and crying on stage because this is all he's known. After enough yelling from fans and discussion with the group, they decided to bring Mark back and eliminate the graduation system, which in turn blew Dream up SO MUCH.

I don't think you guys understood this concept very well and that's fine, but this is not a song that NCT Dream would do right now, this is basically something made especially for the remake of this song, the outfits, the set, the production, everything. It's very 1996. Yesterday I saw a reaction from other youtubers to this song, guys who are almost 30 or maybe over 30 and are Korean and the guy knew all the choreography the girl almost cried, I think what I'm trying to say is I very much doubt that a new kpop fan who doesn't know much about the first generation would like this type of concept, especially from a group that has grown up from this cuter style of music for a while now. This remake is made to evoke the nostalgia of the first generation of kpop especially since H.O.T is the first idol group ever. Yep, idols as we know them now H.O.T were the first. This is not hate because of the comments, I just wanted to clarify that I doubt very much that NCT Dream will make this type of concept again because, as I told you, they already grew from it, but this comeback is special so I would not count it as a song or concept with it. which one should identify them. As a fan of the first generation kpop this song is still a bob haha ​​I loved that they kept a lot of the original choreography, I saw myself in front of the TV dancing with them.

they ARE the biggest sellers physically AND digitally, doesn’t matter in SK or not bcs overall pre-orders are always 1,5-2 million and u can’t compare their ‘popularity’ in us with any other groups, bcs they’ve never pushed by their company, they don’t have us promos and us label, that’s why their album sales are not counted on billboard, BUT still without any push from company they managed to create such a huge fandom, in SK they’re the only NCT unit who charts really big digitally, not only with title tracks, people also love their b-sides, this time with Candy they got all kill #1 real time and daily charts(non of the units managed to do this,even 127), DREAM third artists after Bigbang and BTS to do this (yeah, they’re that huge), and if someone dare to say it’s bcs of remake NO their b-side graduation is #3 on melon daily chart(platform where it’s really hard to chart,but all their songs in album are there in top15) and they’ve been charting since BOOM and RIDIN’ which are not cute at all, that’s when they started gaining popularity, so i wouldn’t say they’re popular bcs of concept, they’re popular bcs of who they’re, their songs(bside are very divers) AND bcs of how they deliver it to people

Just a little bit correction Graduation hit #3 on Melon Top 100 not Melon Daily Chart, same with the bsides being top 10. Still impressive regardless considering #3 position was NCT peak on Melon Top 100. And honestly they already charting good for NCT standards since debut lol. Chewing Gum have decent charting and MFAL got them wins and even triple crowns on The Show

I love the aegyo/cutesy stuff, with a caveat: are the artists themselves comfortable with doing it? I think Dream is, especially since this cover was a suggestion from one of the members. And I’m glad such a legendary song was done by a group that has already proved themselves, they aren’t a rookie group still trying to establish themselves. And yet bc of their original concept, they are still young enough for this vibe to fit them. This song and concept makes me smile, because it looks like they are having fun. To me though, it’s more like watching kids having fun, than anything. Back when I was a teenage girl tho, I definitely would have been in love 😆

Thank you for reacting. They do have a much more youthful sound but I personally think aegyo/cutesy stuff like this is not the same as bright & positive which is Dreams concept. Since 2018 Dreamies haven't really been doing cute concepts it's just more bubbly & cheerful pop that y'all probably think it's cute since it's not your genre choice. Boom, Ridin, Hot Sauce, Hello Future, Beatbox, We Go Up, Go, none of those title tracks are cute to me they just a different vibe from the rest of NCT. Anyways the Candy album is doing soo well that it has broken a lot of records in SM & this year for K-pop alone. They just became the best-selling K-pop artist this year with over six million copies sold. A last-minute mini-winter album just placed them as the third-best group.

I hate how whenever I hear them comment on the songs, they would just fly over the other members as if they are just there for decoration. Mind you, 5Dream has to perform songs w/o Mahae all year round and still sounds amazing, give them respect. This is just my personal opinion and takes after watching the reaction btw. I feel like they react to Dream without having any research on them despite not being the first reaction. Dream is amazing because they can pull off any concept but still have that youthful vibe. They are not just "cute". And if they can't get that, it's their loss.

I like the chorus but it feels like it takes forever to get there lol. I don’t like the song but I think dream did well. I listened to the original and was not a fan at all. Not sure if I’d feel differently had I been around when h.o.t’s version came out.
