Redesigning my old ocs pt 2!! (+speedpaint)

hi everyone!! originally when making this video i had named Desi without knowing that it was a real word or name that could be considered offensive by some people! i had named her based off of the name Devi, and switched it up a bit to make it fit my fantasy world a bit better!! it was never my intention for it to be seen offensive or anything of the sort so from here on her name is officially Devi like the original :3 sorry for any confusion, i just want to make sure everything is accounted for. :3 thank you

i really enjoy how strong your shape language is in the sketch phase, the freedom in the brushes really just makes interesting shapes happen immediately like it's nothing. i'm not really big on speedpaints but it was a pleasure to see the Shapes get put together. I'd really enjoy learning more about these characters, but also any other oc redesigns (or just talking about your ocs in general!) in the future, if you still felt like making those kinds of videos. shoutout to miss raven and her Colors i always have a hard time properly integrating really visible defined gradients into character design. love your girls hell yeah

Important to note, desi literally means someone from the India/Pakistan/Bangladesh area, I’m not sure if that might make it weird to name a character that looks like they’re from that area Desi

Hi! I’ve got a list!! It’s a bit of a mouthful but here! In these pieces I primarily used the “GVW fading edge” from either the GVW sketch+draw pack, or GVW ink pack I usually use the basic “Dry Ink” brush in the inking section of procreate for my lineart, Basic round brush for coloring And then the “BONUS: Jittery Smudge” brush from the Jingsketch basics brush pack

Just throwing in an idea for Devi and Raven-and excuse me, as I don’t know a lot about your fantasy world. What if it’s a classic “royal heir sneaks out of castle, meets traveller, and runs away for a little adventure with them before they get crowned,” kind of thing? Devi overhears people in the castle mentioning that she might have to become the ruler, so she gets anxious and wonders if she’ll ever truly get to experience womanhood without the palace on her back-she’s been inside the majority of her life and she’s already an adult/young adult, she wants to at least see the far side of the castle’s surrounding town, as she knows it’s deemed too risky for royalty to explore out there without practically an entire army watching over her. Devi sneaks out on her own, planning to just wander through the market and to visit the edge of town she’s never seen before. She has a wonderful day, but something that lingers in her mind is that, if she were to go home and become Queen, she may not get a day like this again. It’s a bitter thought. Nearing sunset she finds ships near a dock and busy people working around them, so she asks passerby’s what’s happening. Pirate Captain Raven is setting off again, she’s told. Devi wants to watch the ship leave before heading back to the castle, surely people have noticed her disappearance and are searching for her. Then (I’m out of ideas 🙏) happens, Devi sees guards pointing at her to bring her home, and she has the realization that she does not want to dwell in the castle again so soon, so she flies aboard Raven’s ship as it’s already off-dock and a fair distance into the water. Also this could totally be platonic but I’m partial to lesbian swashbuckler x naive princess so 🫠. Pardon my word-vomit haha. Good character development (maybe??) could be Devi having to admit she wants to stay outside and explore with Raven, that she doesn’t want to spend her life in the castle. She leaves for good, leaving the kingdom to have to find a new, suitable heir, which would be a different slightly illegitimate princess/prince, and a new story to continue on the scramble for leadership this kingdom is going through.

Hi! So since all of the characters are fantasy characters, technically Desi is just that, she’s an Athrendain woman, but! Athrendain takes a whole lot of inspiration and theming from the Middle East, and India among other things! But when designing her, I based her physical traits off that of someone from India :3
