Just wanted to say we love watching your channel. Found it watching Peter episode somehow. We’re north Louisiana folks. But my husband worked the barrier islands an a game warden (retired now). My daughter married a Thibodaux boy. I have caught huge bull reds down near Holly Beach around Cameron. Love watching Tara catch frogs. My dad took me frogging at young teenage years. Brings back memories. We live on the Ouachita River and I usually fish everyday for huge catfish. You are correct about everyone makes gumbo different. Some people get upset about doing it like their mama did. It’s hilarious! Love your channel!

A guy I worked with in Alexandria last year is pretty much an all out Louisiana Sportsman. He hunts, fishes, all that good stuff. Ive never been saltwater fishing in my life and have only been crabbing about twice. Well, this guy brought me, he gave me pounds and pounds of redfish that were split down the middle basically. On a recent trip tk a seafood shop in Hammond I noticed tgeir redfish was about $18 a pound. I wonder how much they cost further down towards the Gulf and etc. Well, I never cooked saltwater fish in my life, and have pretty much only had blackened snapper at a disters wedding many years ago. He told me about the Redfish on the half shell and so I set out to give it a shot. I used some butter and lemon and put them scale side down on my regular barbeque pit, on the indirect heat side and just let them slowly cook. And gor the life of me, it was some of the best eating I've ever had. I didn't mess them up even though it was my first time. The meat just came out from the skin perfectly. I dont work with Claude anymore He spoiled me. As good as that fish was I don't want to pay $18 a pound for anything really. I gotta get my salt water liscense and then go figure something out.
@datlouisianalife11 ай бұрын
Redfish is delicious cooked on the grill scales down! We cook it like that a lot. Another way we enjoy doing it, is to boil the Redfish in crab boil and make fish cakes. Definitely my favorite way to eat it! Wow, 18 bucks a pound is a lot. Maybe I'm in the wrong business 🤣. Plenty of reds down here by us. Hard to catch sometimes but so much fun trying! Do you follow Peter Santenello? If so, we are spending the day with him tomorrow. You might see us on one of his videos soon.

@@datlouisianalife I do and actually, I'm sure it's not because of my comment to him, but I asked him when he comes to Louisiana to do a happy video, a good times type of video, not the bad life because we living the good life down here baby no matter what anyone says or thinks!! He couldn't have found better people! 🎉

New additional comment. Would you be open to just talk a bit about yourselves….where you grew up, what you do, how you met, etc. Love, love, love your stuff but don’t feel like I know a thing about ya’all

We are working on a video that should give a lot more info about us. I'll share some with you before that though. I was born and raised in Houma, LA. Tara is from Pierre Part, LA. We both have been working in the oilfield industry since we started working. That's how we met. Oh, and we both love the outdoors as you probably noticed 🤣. Thanks for all the feedback buddy!

You guys are awesome! I grew up in Louisiana and I'm approaching 50 right now and getting homesick every time I watch your videos. I'm from up north in Minden and Homer but Louisiana is the same style living everywhere in the state. I'm thinking of moving to Lake Bisteneau myself cause my best friend I've known since preschool lives real close to there and it's a natural Lake unlike Claiborne where I grew up. Anyway, either one works 🤙. Seriously though, watching your videos helped me decide what I want to do and where I want to spend the rest of my days. Thanks y'all

Dang, redfish are some of the hardest fish to catch. I am surprised you caught them with artificial bait. We use shrimp and even then with their sucker mouth, still hard to catch. Great video.
@datlouisianalife10 ай бұрын
We usually so pretty good catching reds. We normally only use artificial. Going back very soon. Thank you!
