@@diegomilito7163 I agree, there is an organic chemistry that John has with the rest of the band. That being said, I wouldn't want to have to work with, or depend on him with how flaky he has been over the years. Josh was a safe bet. A good player they could depend on. Its a classic example of order and chaos. That's why those two albums are musically technical, good and interesting, but sanitary and uninspired. They are "good" IMO but the raw, chemical, chaotic, organic passion that John brings is just not there.

I liked hearing Josh mention having lunch with Flea a couple days after the split. I'm guessing the Peppers and Josh will stay in touch and remain friends. The break-up sounds as amicable as something like that can be. Josh is among the nicest, classiest rock stars I am aware of. Brilliant musician, songwriter, and singer imo. I look forward to following his career and listening to more of his own music. In this interview he discusses at length his desire to do his own thing with his own band. This change might be the best thing that ever happens to him as he is still a young guy with name recognition and a huge network in the industry. I understand people thinking that the Chili Peppers did Josh wrong. But who among us wouldn't give anything to be in that band for 10 years, record 2-3 records, and tour the world with those guys? Josh is financially set and thus free in ways that 99% of the population will never be. Dude has been living the dream and now he will start the most meaningful work of his life leading his own creative projects... Dot Hacker, PluralOne, whatever he so desires. The Red Hots are getting up there in the age range where more than ever, tomorrow is not guaranteed. We all have this one life to live and you naturally want to be with the people you love the most. You want to spend your time with the people whom you share the deepest connections. It's completely understandable and I cannot fault anyone for living their dreams.

I like flea, i consider him to be one of the finest bassists of all time, but he was a dick in the way he handled his departure. Over 10 years with the band and that's how they handle his departure statement? And they were flea's words. Couldn't even out a picture. Just an Instagram story type post. John's back and I'm really happy about it, but Josh wasn't treated fairly at the end. They didn't even wait for an hour to put out the statement. They seemed like they were in a hurry. That's being disrespectful to the member who was with you for over a decade. Sorry Josh, you deserved a better farewell.

Completely agree with you, it's sad he's not in the band anymore- but he got to be in RHCP for 10 years and now has tons of opportunities. Many people would kill for that! That said, I will say as someone for whom John Frusciante is an idol/guitar hero, I was really disappointed in the way he's treated josh. From what Josh has said, it seems Frusciante has been really cold to him ever since josh joined the band, and it sounds like John was pretty cold about kicking him out of the band too. I know John is a... Mercurial personality, but it still rubs me the wrong way, especially considering Josh used to be one of his best friends/musical partners.

@@quicklicks5963 I feel ya, I recently listened to the last few albums and I can say i enjoyed the Klinghoffer era but it still felt like a blended family. I get the same feeling when I listen to the early stuff with Jack or Hillel. Personally I connected with Mother's Milk and BSSM the most. Those were the soundtrack to my youth and I'm sure that has a lot to do with my opinion. But I don't think anyone would disagree with the fact that BSSM was lightning in a bottle. That album was perfect and though it led to John's first exit from the band and a hilarious SNL performance. It was a musical earthquake that was felt around the world. From Breaking the Girl to Suck My Kiss to Give It Away down to Under The Bridge and Sir Psycho Sexy it was so fucking good!! And after the smoke cleared and the band yet again needing a guitarist, you had nowhere to go but to One Hot Minute. It's interesting how in work one person starts then leaves then after that person is replaced he becomes jealous that someone else takes his place, now all of the sudden he returns and people he left boot out whoever stepped in to help and take over. There is no appreciation of who stepped in to prevent things from collapsing or disappearing and make new things materialize. The person who left just returns and whoever covered for him is just thrown away.

I saw RHCP live with Josh in 2016 and there is absolutely no denying that Josh was an absolute rock to the band’s legacy. I was actually mad for him to find out that they were quick to kick him out for John. I understand John has always been a vital part of the band’s history but it just seems kinda messed to just be like “oh John’s back see ya Josh!” like what’s gonna happen when John decides to leave again? They’re just gonna call up Josh and ask him if he wants to join again? It’s just not right

Everybody's saying Jon ran out of money that's the only reason he came back. I'm just glad John looks happy and healthy and he didn't die of a heroin overdose. John also came back in the early 2000s with and made that iconic record californication. Whenever he comes back they make magic. Jon was always the heart and soul of the band I don't know why people are surprised when they always let him come back. Josh did a great job holding it down for 10 years though.

It boggles my mind how anyone could be surprised about any of this. He was always John standing and he knew this. He knew that whenever John wanted to come back his time with the chili peppers would be up, this was a position he was offered and that was a big thing considering they didn't even optician anyone else. He has a right attitude for being humble and grateful for the time he was given. Because it was never an integral permanent thing. People need to realize that the chili peppers is John's house and sound.

Before John left Josh was just hanging around and playing 2nd guitar on 2/3 songs during concerts. Then he became main guitarist and part of the creative process. Do you really think he'd want to go back to what it was before ?! Anybody can be that 2nd guitarist ( if one is needed, we don't even know, that's something that happened with Stadium Arcadium only ), Josh can use his time better and do his own music.

It would've been difficult for Josh and John to reconcile the new status quo. Musicians, especially guitarists are egotistical. Whether by a lot, or a little. It would be a difficult pill to swallow for both of them. Josh would over step bounds in small ways by trying to contribute more to the writing process. John would probably not like this, as he's used to being the only guitarist in the band. It'd be a lot for everyone to get used to.
