My husband struggled with mental health and addiction and he lost his battle 6-25-2023 before he passed he kept listening to this song and sending it to his friends and family…the day of his service we played this song and it was almost like the room finally understood what he was trying to say. Had this played at my life partner of ten years funeral in July. He died of cancer unfortunately, but he went quickly rather than slowly which in some ways is a blessing. He loved RHCP so much and saw them at Hyde Park with John many many years ago (without me) and we saw them together with John at the Emirates Grounds, Manchester together and it was magical. I’m glad we got to share that together. His sister chose this song to played as the reflection music during his funeral and I thought it was a truly beautiful choice. I miss you so bad, Daniel. Take me to the river, let me to your shore. Well, I’ll be coming back baby, I’ll be coming back for more. ❤ see you someday my lovely man.

+SWWonders I personally think there's more good music being made right now than ever! Of course it CAN'T be totally innovative in the same way caused by certain social explosions that were going on all the hell all over the place in certain times -people like the Beatles & Jimi Hendrix were great musicians and they stayed OPEN to change, but: it was pretty much accidental - and LUCKY - that they wandered into about four or five HUGE social upheavals, and they were good enough to plug into them. The weird part about FINDING the good stuff is first, you have to turn off your television and throw the radio into the bathtub - it's EXACTLY backwards of the old way. It really IS about recommendations, and digging through a whole lot of hay to get to the needle, IYKWIM.

LetThereBeLoud That's where I'd disagree, at least for know. It seems to me that there are still a few creaky old execs at the big record companies who're still waiting for "the good old days" to come back, and they think they can HELP that by fucking with all the people who are maneuvering OUTSIDE of their rules. You look at somebody like Joe Bonamassa, who couldn't care LESS about a "big record contract" but he's doing O.K. Because he won't sit, fetch and heel on command, it's VERY unlikely he'll place any songs into big Hollywood movies, win too many Grammys (no matter how LITTLE competition in the Blues category!) Even IF and WHEN the big companies realize they're just going to die if they don't pick up independent artists, they HATE not being in charge. Axl Rose must've been laughing his ass off at 'em.

I was in my first year of recovery from substance abuse when this song first came out. It felt as if Anthony had crawled inside my head and taken a look around. It became a theme song for my recovery (as I was sure of at the time, it was written during a period when Anthony was also in early recovery; evidently his plane had to bounce a few times before it landed). My own band had broken up not long before and I didn't know if I'd ever have another (I did!). 33 years later I haven't gotten loaded, a day at a time. Since I'm the same age as the boys in the band, that's half my life. And I owe it in part to Anthony showing his soul at that time. The song was a comfort to me when I really needed it.

I got a bad disease Out from my brain is where I bleed Insanity it seems Has got me by my soul to squeeze With all the love from me With all the dyin' trees, I scream The angels in my dream, yeah Had turned to demons of greed, that's me Where I go, I just don't know I got to, got to, gotta take it slow When I find my peace of mind I'm gonna give ya some of my good time Today Love smiled on me He took away my pain, said, "Please I'll let your ride be free Ya gotta let it be, oh, yeah" Where I go, I just don't know I got to, gotta, gotta take it slow When I find my peace of mind I'm gonna give ya some of my good time Yeah! Oh, so polite indeed Well, I got everything I need I'll make my days a breeze And take away my self-destruction It's bitter baby and it's very sweet Holy rollercoaster, but I'm on my feet Take me to the river, let me on your shore I'll be comin' back maybe, I'll be comin' back for more Doo-doo dingle zing a dong bone Ba-di ba-da ba-zumba crunga cong gone bad I could not forget, but I will not endeavor Simple pleasures are much better But I won't regret it never Where I go, I just don't know I got to, got to, gotta take it slow When I find my peace of mind I'm gonna give ya some of my good time Where I go, I just don't know I might end up somewhere in Mexico When I find my peace of mind I'm gonna keep ya for the end of time Traducir al español

cheers to Anthony Kiedis' father! when I was 16 (22 years ago) I was stuck in a group home, and had nothing but books and music to occupy my time. I wrote a letter to RHCP telling them my story and How much their music meant to me, I got a 2 page response! it was a very heartfelt letter that I still cherish. he even included a signed picture of Flea, as I had mentioned I loved his bass. that was a tough time for me, and Mr. Kiedis really brightened my day, and he didn't have to. thank you again sir. *****October 2018, please send a constant positive vibe Blackie's way, he is very ill from what I understand. I have researched his life story heavily, and I suggest you do the same. He is an amazing man*****

I don’t know if it will help to finally chase my demons away or this is just the rollercoaster I will always have to ride, and do my best to figure out. This song used to be my Ringtone when I was younger for the longest time. Just listening to it again brings back soo many great memories of a time where I was so happy and life was so much more care-free. Now I'm sitting here alone thinking of all of my best friends and loved ones who shared these times with me but are now gone forever. I lost my first true love unexpectedly at the age of just 17, I also lost another one of my best friends unexpectedly that I've known for 17 years at the end of June (the 22nd) of this year, and after that I ended up shockingly losing my final best friend that I've known since I was 5 years old on August 31st, and our friendships were some of the best damn times I've ever had for 32+ years. 🥹 Life isn't fair, and it's so damn short. Please don't ever forget to tell the people you love how much they mean to you, and do it often. 🙏 Never take it for granted either because you never know when your last chance to say goodbye will be. Okay I'm crying again now. 😭💔 My broken heart is completely destroyed, but I'm still going to continue to try my best to pour out as much love as I can to all of you still. I love every single one of you... 🫶🧡🫶🧡

This is funny, because Mother's Milk came out in 1989. So if you're in your mid 60s you would have been in your 30s which would have been a perfectly reasonable age to listen to RHCP during their prime in the 90s.
