It can get better. No matter what it is. RHCP made up part of the soundtrack to my heroin addiction, so hearing some of their songs (this being one of them) bring back some cold, dark memories. I'm clean for nearly 6 years now. But good music = good music, so i still listen to them... even though their music/lyrics evoke some terribly painful memories in me. Now i try to see it as things being so much better than they used to. I changed, but my love for their songs never has. (Just wanted to comment because my experiences/what their music means to me is the opposite of what it is to you) But whatever it is, I hope it gets better for you. Love u man

I agree, should have been both John and Dave at the same time. My Friends is a very very good song with good groove and feel. Then again I'm not your typical RHCP fan. I don't like the "funky" or weird stuff being a classic rock and blues kind of guy. Higher Ground, Under The Bridge, My Friends, Californication and a very select few others are my favorites of theirs. He have said he's guitar heroes are Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), Robert Smith (The Cure) and Jimi Hendrix. I saw them live a few times and saw Flea with Talking Heads, Joy Division and the Banshees t-shirts, he also likes punk rock, and post hardcore (FEAR, Fugazi, Black Flag, X, etc). Chad and John are more into Prog, Jazz, Hard Rock, Funk and Heavy Metal. Chad has been featured on Drumeo, and Modern Drummer magazines talking about John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Rush, Bill Bruford, Funk and R&B drummers. I have some guitar mags with John talking about Frank Zappa, Marc Ribot, D. I agree, they are typically a wild bunch but for whatever reason they wrote this song, which I think is really out of character for this group. They must have had a reason to have written this song and it came from their soul and that comes through to the listener, it definitely stirs my emotions every time I hear it.

we are safe, no coronavirus is gonna make us unsafe, we have an immune system. oh and add to the fact that 99.7% of people recover from this virus. the media and government is hyping this bullshit up so they have a reason to impose more control over us all. cause thats what governments are interested in. more power and more money for themselves. NOT YOUR WELL BEING. If you think the government and the world health organization care about your well being you really are living on another planet.

Totally agree; I think it's the contrast with John (um....hard to stand next to a phenom?)? And I'm super sure why but I've seen them twice after Navarro and never seen them play anything from this album. This is a great song, for sure (I think, anyway).

He said If you like it you can have it for 5 or 10 bucks, I don't remember exactly how much but the next day or two I gave him money. I loved the album. Best question I ever asked a classmate. God that album is amazing.

I bought it back in the day and I loved it. I also had Bloor Sugar Sex Magic so I could make the inmediate comparison. The first record was a rock funk band, the second was a heavy rock funk band. I really think the band should make their sound a little dirtier. I heard some of that in the song The Heavy Wing on Unlimited Love.
