Nick, your openness and honesty is what separates you from other bigger names. Watching you progress as a human as well as a player, positives and negatives, just shows that you are real. This is why, not only myself, but the community continue to support you. You deserve all the support you get, plus much more. Keep being you dude.

I can understand your regrets and pain about life. I'm in this state right now. I wonder what am I doing alive? What can I do to continue living? And all of the reason for it is because I lost my wife to a cancer 1 year and a half ago. I did everything in life for her. We were together for 13 years. So yeah, you are not alone about things in life and how to keep going. What am I suppose to do now??? As a 40 yo person who still enjoying to play a competitive game, I listen and watch you because I can feel the humanity and pain in your words. You are real. You are sincere. You are a human being just like us.

I've wanted to say this for a while. I don't know if you've gone back recently and re-watched any of your "Inside The Minds", but I recommend you do that. Everyone could tell that instead of just being a step or two ahead in your gameplay, you were several steps further. Explaining spawns, damage output and its relevance to the fight, why you spawn with a smoke, etc. It made you think about everything you did in much deeper detail than I think you do today. I know you said those videos fell off a little in terms of viewership, and that's very unfortunate because they were so well made. But my point is that there's a discernible difference between how you played back then and how you play now. And I don't think it has anything to do with skill. You were simply putting more thought into your gameplay. Outplaying yourself, essentially. I'm not going to say you fell off. I'm not going to say you should go back to the way you were before. My only point is that when you were explaining what you were doing while playing, you always came across as more of a teacher and less of a content creator. Maybe trace things back to the roots of why you started and see where it takes you. In my opinion, I think you started this because you genuinely wanted to teach people and help them get better at the game. And I still think that this is true today. But maybe somewhere along the way it became less about teaching and more about working. Which can be expected when it becomes your job to teach, so to speak. These are just the humble opinions of a long time viewer. Just know that I don't mean any disrespect and I still enjoy every video you upload. My intentions are pure and I wish you the best.✌️

The inside the mind videos were an idea I had about 8 years ago. I finally followed through with them when I started taking KZbin seriously. My goal for this channel was/is to make whatever I feel like making at the time. I enjoy helping others get better at Gears but I also want people to enjoy my videos for me and my personality rather than my gameplay. I appreciate the thoughts.

Hey man. I actually don’t play gears at all but honestly I’ve only just discovered your channel like just a week ago. it’s just so cool and relaxing watching you play. Just wanted to tell you, I totally understand what you’re saying. I thought I was slowly becoming a pro gamer ultimately going into the big leagues but man I think my mid life crisis came pretty dang late (20 lol). All I could do is play games. I had a part time job just to pay for my gear and games. But I couldn’t really socialize properly. I wasn’t very academically smart. And yeah I lost out too (not saying you’re the same). Right now, I’m making up for not reading earlier. Taking my youth more seriously. But dang you got achievements man. You got something to show for your craft. Me lol nope. So you’re awesome man. But if you need some Nicholas help, watch Jordan Peterson lol. He can get your shit sorted.

I know you say you regret certain things in your life, but I have to say you are who you are today because of everything you have done, gone through, endured and achieved. If you didn't have those experiences you might not be the same person we all know and love today. Keep your head high and keep up the good work

Icy I just wanted to say I appreciate the content you put out for us as viewers, whether it’s more focused on the commentary or the gameplay I always look forward to an upload from you. Everyone has regrets in life but I feel that is part of what shapes us into what we are in the present time and while we can’t change what happened in the past we can keeping doing good in the present to set ourselves up for a better future. I’ve had this problem with myself for a while and I still struggle with it from time to time but I always try to stay positive and better myself for the future. People have learned so much from you and watching you play and they will remember that positive influence you had on their lives. Thanks for the videos and commentary and I wish the best for you in your life ❤

personally I still watch your video just to chill while working etc and I don't expect you to go full winning mode on every match since I know you don't play this game a lot like you used to , and hopefuly gears 6 come out soon and esport come back to life again

Sounds like to me youve lost the 'hunger'. Youve done it all, been the best, won tournaments around the world and been on top of the world and now theres nothing more to achieve so you lose your drive. Although not close on the same scale the same thing happened to me. I got rank 1 on 2 separate accounts on CnC RA3 then started losing games left right and centre because i just wasnt that bothered anymore, dunno if the same applies but it happens but your still fucking awesome

Some of these kids don’t understand life and gears. Gears has been a ride since gow 1 but once you start hitting your late 20s early 30s you have to make decisions on whether this game is going to be worth the time and money you might make off of it. With how incredibly bad the coalition is at keeping this game healthy in between games it’s not easy being a big streamer/pro player like cod/other huge pc names. This game has been a struggle since hypefestation days. The time between gow 3 and gow ue/4 felt like half a decade of nothingness(in gaming aspect) so much uncertainty. Gears 6 is going to be another one of those moments. Will they stop making games, good ones at that for the next 4-5 years.

nah deadass this gears game specifically has this weird vibe where if you’re not playing every day you need to play HELLA to get back to the skill plateau you once were at idk why but GOW5 is like that. GOW4 u hop on after 2 weeks and you don’t need to warm up as much.

Honestly the state that competitive gaming is in right now is just less enjoyable. Halo, cod, gears, overwatch. Every competitive esport besides Val is pretty dead in North America right now. I just hope we can get some comp games that are more fun in the future.
